From tracing where the wood has been felled and selecting seasonal materials, to the very tools she used to create her bowls. Her traditional self-built foot powered pole lathe allows her a deeper connection to the products she creates. She values being a part of a large community that is open to all who are willing to learn and share knowledge. "Turning bowls to the sound of the wind in the trees and birds chirping allows me to immerse myself in nature. I find myself happiest when I can feel fresh twirls of wood and grass under my feet." Meet the maker! Ryan James / Remade Retro Upcycler & Artist @remaderetro Ryan’s creative life began with a decade-and-a-half long music career. After signing with a major publishing company in his early twenties he was taken on a journey - from performing internationally to collaborating with his heroes. Since becoming a father, and following the global pandemic he decided it was time to re-evaluate his life and chosen vocation. It all started with a vintage sideboard he found during lockdown. He decided to “do it up” to use in his music studio. He couldn’t believe the transformation, and a new and unexpected passion was born. He soon began selling his pieces online and taking on commissions. Things have moved quickly for Ryan, and since taking part in MIAM he has began incorporating his own unique digital artwork into his furniture designs. #makeitatmarket #MIAM

Meet the maker! Jeanet Ingwersen Potter @jeanetingwersenceramics Jeanet is a potter based in County Durham, where her handmade pottery is made in her little garden studio. She was born in Denmark and grew up in Norway from the age of seven. She came to the UK in 1995 to go to university and has been there ever since. Her ceramic journey started when she was a child, messing around with clay. A few years ago, she did a local wheel throwing course and things got serious. She loved making pots on the wheel and was immediately addicted. Since then, she has been making ceramics as a hobby and recently (2022) started up as a small business. Her pots are inspired by her background in Denmark and Norway. She likes to think that her work has the clean, simple, practical and yet elegant style typically seen in Scandinavian design. Each pot is unique in its own way and she always has the Scandi hygge in mind when she is at the wheel. #makeitatmarket #MIAM
