Hanoi, Vietnam 🛵💐🥚 animated by @_hungrysandwich ❤️‍🔥 🛒 Link in bio to shop a print of the illustration or others in the collection 🖼️ This piece was originally from my Drawing Diaries series ✏️- which serves as a canvas to chronicle my travels and experiences, where I can explore new ideas and experiment with a variety of materials and techniques ✍🏻 This episode drew inspiration from the bustling streets of Hanoi, Vietnam, capturing the dynamic essence of the capital. From the spectacle of motorbikes laden with massive egg deliveries, to the enticing aromas of street-side cuisine. Local residents expertly balancing on their bikes, to the vivid scenes of food and flower vendors intermingling with the rhythmic chaos of traffic. Earlier this year I was working with @_hungrysandwich on an animated version of a research publication I created with Uni of Bham titled ‘Intergenerational Futures’ - which we’ll be sharing v soon! During this process the idea developed of animating this Vietnam illustration & @andysandwich_ and the team started to work their magic on it 🪄 and they did not disappoint!! Sound onnnn 🔊 wow!! The still version of this illustration is currently long listed in @theaoi World Illustration Awards too, in the ‘exploration’ category. ✏️ Drawing Diaries | August 2023 I’ve been soaking up lots of new spaces and places since moving to London in April. I’ve been wanting to launch a series that compiles these observations and allows me to reflect on my new favourite spots through video footage and drawing - which I’ve decided to call ‘Drawing Diaries’ 📖   I’ve always enjoyed documenting my daily travels and have a plethora of notes, sketches, photos, and videos over the last few years. I’ve been saying for ages that I’ll do something with them but never seem to find the head space to DO IT 🪄 Thankfully, Derwent kindly commissioned this episode, which provided me with the motivation to get started, as well as some great new materials to experiment with! 🙌🏻 Throughout the illustrations, I’ll be using materials from the Derwent Inktense collection. #AD   The format is similar to the Paris video I made with Derwent last year - interacting with new sites, local history, and walking routes! 🚶🏻‍♀️ Views from the @royaloperahouse , walks around Crystal Palace park & dinosaurs, and the beautiful Palm House at @kewgardens are all shown in this video. One for all the gnome dads out there 🌝👍🏻 Gnomes have been quietly taking over my brain lately… After seeing a photo of me as a kid rocking around in a pair of gnome shorts + doing an editorial piece featuring a gnome lover..
