At 8th Street Studios, we asked four artists a series of quick but layered questions; about strength, unlearning, and the realities of creating as women today. Their responses were different, yet deeply connected in spirit.

Maha Eddé’s (@mahaedde ) work is intuitive and process-driven, tracing the geometries of existence through natural forms and shifting forces. Moving between micro and macro, order and instinct, she treats material, colour, and light as a singular field of energy.

عمل مها إدي (@mahaedde ) حدسي ومبني على العملية، يتتبّع هندسات الوجود عبر الأشكال الطبيعية والقوى المتحركة. تنتقل بين الصغير والكبير، بين النظام والغرائز، وتتعامل مع المادة واللون والضوء كحقل واحد من الطاقة.

I started making these plaster forms to get a better sense of the 3D shapes inside my paintings. They became little models I could light, study, and paint from.
Having them in real space naturally pushed me toward larger sculptural ideas and installations, and they’re now feeding into a few projects that I’ll share as they develop.

A painting can take me through a journey, it wants me to explore options and it shows me possibilities. At a certain point it settles and reveals to me what it wants to be.
The final version of Birds is on view at my solo show at La Cantine until March 11.
