What an incredible day! Very grateful that I got to co-host the first International Analog Day with such a brilliant group of humans! @chaiwolfman , @gretamjohnsen Lauren from @maydelcraft and the woman behind IAD, @badasscrossstitch . People stitched, painted, did puzzles, did origami and most importantly, talked with friends old and new without looking at our phones. Going to be smiling about this for a while.
It’s hard to put into words just how incredible my first QuiltCon was. I feel inspired, supported, and incredibly grateful. My life is just so much better because of the Chicago Modern Quilt Guild.
I wrote a book! It’s a middle-grade book, aimed for kids in 5-9ish grades, on the Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese. It’s written specifically for the library or schools, so you won’t find it at a bookstore. But if your kid checks it out, I’d love to know! If you do want to order it, I’ll put the link in my bio.
I like to get everything I’ve made onto the grid, so here’s what I’ve done the last few months: 1 and 2: Quilts that will be donated to Project Linus 3. A blue and pink shirt made with fabric I got @lakesmakerie , a fantastic store in my beloved Minneapolis 4. A pillow for my niece Ella 5. A bag for me, also made with fabric from Minnesota.
Happily exhausted from a week that included doing the year in review with my friends at WTTW, Christmas Eve with the Hendricks family, Christmas day with the Gaineses and then some extra time with my awesome niece Ella. Grateful for the amazing people in my life.

Yahoo Sports contributor @maggiehendricks shares some of the abuse she received early in her career as a women in sports, in particular the jarring and surreal experience of having then-UFC commentator Joe Rogan call her a C-U-Next-Tuesday and turn his supporters against her.

A few years ago, I took a learn to embroider class with @badasscrossstitch , and she helped me understand the power of making art about myself. I started creating things about my lifetime journey with asthma. Then, in 2021, I joined the Chicago Modern Quilt Guild. I was blown away by the art quilts my guild mates made. Eventually, with a ton of encouragement from my people, I created this. It’s called “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups,” a quilt about how climate change and worsening air quality doesn’t hit us all the same. Sharing it makes me feel very vulnerable and open, but also makes me feel powerful and grateful for my incredible friends who push me to find pieces of myself that I didn’t know existed. Thank you to them and to the incredible @angw19quilts for being my sounding board and photographer.
Spent a lovely morning on the south side of Chicago birding at Big Marsh then going on a house tour of the historic Pullman homes. Really cool way to celebrate my honey taking another trip around the sun.
