Lakes Makerie, Minneapolis. Lovely Cottage block prints from Fableism have finally arrived stateside and they’re winging their way to us from California, just in time for all your sunny summer sewing. We ordered these fabrics more than a year ago, and have been so eager for you to see them. They’re available for preorder now on the website for shipping or local pickup, and should be in the shop any day now. Finally! We’re thinking dresses, tops, curtains, cushions, even napkins. I’ve been thinking about fabric covered lampshades too, maybe I’ll finally get around to it. We can’t wait to see what you make. #makesomethingyoulove #summersewing #amongthewildflowers

Lakes Makerie, Minneapolis. Our Latest Merchant & Mills Delivery, Part 2. “Speediest Fabric Roller in the North” Another of Evan’s many talents. He’s also a designer, patternmaker, sewist, and a great teacher. He’s also so much fun to have around. Sign up for one of his classes or stop by and say hi.

Lakes Makerie, Minneapolis. Our Latest Merchant & Mills Delivery, Part 1. We alwsys have fun unpacking the new fabrics when they arrive from Merchant & Mills, and love the way they are lovingly rolled up in colorful little snails. Having them shipped this way saves a little shipping expense and, despite careful packing the long cardboard rolls would often break during the transcontinental voyage. Now, we just look forward to receiving the cute snails. (The eagle-eyed among you might notice some popular cotton-linen restocks, including “Irish Coffee” which always sells out in a hurry). 🐌#makesomthingyoulove #minnespolisfabricstore #learntosewminneapolis

Lakes Makerie, Minneapolis. By popular demand, we just added a new session for The Factotum bag with Evan, two Thursdays May 21 & 28, 5:30-8:30PM. Learn to sew with cavas, make pleated pockets, install a lining, zip and adjustable self or leather strap. This crossbody is the perfect size for carrying all your things. These are in Japanese sailcloth for a pop of color, but oilskin would be a lovely option too. Details over on the website.

Lakes Makerie. Can we just say a word about this collar? Evan made this Daughter Judy Thompson Coat in Atelier Brunette fabrics, light gabardine (Milky Clay colorway) with lining and undercollar in in Weave Line (Iced Mocha). Practically perfect on every way!

Lakes Makerie, Minneapolis. We fell in love with these adorable embroidered patches from Petra Boase that we saw in a few of our favorite shops in London. We bought some home as souvenirs and now, we’re so happy to have them in the shop to share with you so you can join in the fun. Everything from pigeons with crowns, to Staffordshire dogs, to double decker buses, to peas-in-a-pod. So many choices! They iron on, so you don’t even have to sew! #makesomethingyoulove

Here's one of the newest members of the club, and graduate of our Beginner Garment Maker class if her very first make. It's the Edie Top from Merchant & Mills in Kokka Muddy works double gauze. Beautiful work! We can't wait to see what you make next...

We realize this invitation is a little late, but we we’ve been scheming about a film series of “watch-it-for-the-clothes” movies, so let’s get started. We thought it was important to review The Devil Wears Prada before heading out to see TDWP2 which opens today. Space is limited, so reserve your spot. There will be snacks, and because it’s “Me-Made May” wear something you made  to be eligible for prize drawings. Hope to see you there!
