Sitting in the back of random Irish Pub (McWEEN’s) in Chelsea, NYC with
@stantenisland , he has the audacity to ask what sort of project I’d want to do if I could do anything. It took all of about 44 seconds and I take a screen shot of Harlot, load it into IG stories, draw a bootleg version of my abstract paintings and then erase Harlot so now he’s visible. For years I’ve had the idea to make a building sized canvas and use it as a backdrop where it looks like the athletes are just floating through one of my paintings. This was way before A.I. and you’d think cgi would be suffice but nahhh, I wanted that shit to be real.
It took few surreal logistics calls with Tommy Didge and
@mackelvaughn and with me emphasizing its gotta HUGE and nothing under 30ft tall by 100ft wide I was able to convince them that it was totally doable. We got to
@absolutpark Austria for the last day of the season and then we had the mountain all to ourselves from there after. We expected spring conditions but of course the day we start, it decides snow non stop for 4 days. I was lucky enough to have a massive indoor snowcat garage where we layed out the canvases on the ground and I was able to paint them on the ground (with the help of some of the team).
I just assumed that Didge had everything figured out from framing/stretching the canvases and then getting them up on the hill for the shoot. But when everyone was looking at me for direction I was like uh ohhhhh!!!!!. So we built 4 makeshift massive wooden stretcher bars and then stretched the canvas with 6 people grabbing all sides (Id never stretched anything more than 8ft x 6ft let alone 30ft x 20ft.) The stretching came out tight as piss and the next problem was how in the heck are we gonna transport them. We had a lord of cat driver
@no_gram_dude and we strapped em to the cat and since they were so tall he had to have a copilot flying a drone to show him where to go
Thus the team movie was born. (Not yet named Ornada)
Ps. Only riding i got to do was in the pitch blawk of night on the way home & after tomahawking dropping off a cliff i found out a month later I snapped 5 my collarbone.
