Surprise! It’s Bandcamp Friday and to celebrate I’m releasing my new album “Madelyn Read and the Petrichor’s Live At HippoSonic Studios” exclusively on Bandcamp.
It was such a treat to record this show with a live in-studio audience last year. The album brings you right into the live show experience - complete with audience reactions, singalongs, and my silly banter.
I will not be releasing this album on streaming platforms, so if you want to listen to it, this is the only way!
Thank you to my amazing band @sydneytough@_katieplays and @rigsofmad
to @talelmcbriarmusic for opening the night
to Kiana Forouz and Robert Darch at @hipposonic for engineering the album
to @andrewconroymusic at @flashrecording for mixing and mastering
and to @marie_catafesta for the album artwork (and amazing live videos - more on that later)
Happy Bandcamp Friday! Today is a great day to support your favourite musicians ❤️

Leah Barley (She/Her) is a Vancouver-based alt-country singer-songwriter with roots in bluegrass and old-time country. Her songs move easily between smoky blues, country soul, and stripped-back folk, carried by a voice that’s been compared to Norah Jones, Amy Winehouse, and Janis Joplin. With over 15 years of performing across Canada, Leah brings a natural ease to the stage and a strong connection to her audience.
Élise LeBlanc (They/Them) is a Victoria, BC–based singer-songwriter rooted in classic country, Appalachian folk, and western swing. Inspired by artists like Gillian Welch and Patsy Cline, their songs explore queer desire, heartbreak, and hope. Their voice is warm and expressive, with a classic country twang.
Madelyn Read (she/her) Praised by Americana UK as “a wonderful example of grafting new perspectives onto folk and country roots.” Vancouver-born Madelyn Read brings the soul of country landscapes to the pulse of city streets. Inspired by I’m With Her, Joni Mitchell, and Caitlin Canty, she weaves nostalgic Americana traditions with a fresh perspective, bridging rural and urban worlds.

Can’t wait to go back ❤️ (hopefully soon)
