MA Critical Studies Lecture Series: Noura Salahaldeen ”Naseej. Life-Weavings of Palestine” 🗓️ 30.10.2025 / 6 PM doors / 6.30 PM begin 📍 room M13a, Schillerplatz 1 The student-organized lecture series invites you to a moderated talk with author and scholar Noura Salahaldeen (@nourasalahaldeen ). Meaning ‘tapestry’ in Arabic, Naseej is a book which weaves together  observations on the diversity of histories,  communities,  and continuities in Palestine. Spanning several different genres, including short stories, poetry, and visual art, the tapestry of Naseej aims to make sense of an untold story of Palestinian life: the tearing of Palestinians from the ancient regional histories of Palestinian land. Understanding Palestine as a “precious patchwork of languages, ethnicities, cultures, religions and practices”, Naseej observes the remaining threads of the tapestry that is Palestinian life and its history. Students of the Master Critical Studies and anyone interested are warmly invited to the moderated discussion of Noura Salahaldeen’s project. The talk will entail a presentation of the book, its aims and challenges, and an ensuing conversation around Palestinian literature and history.  Noura Salahaldeen is an anthropologist from Jerusalem, currently based in Europe. Her research focuses on the experiences of the African Community of Jerusalem under settler colonial rule in Palestine, and in the Palestinian diaspora in Jordan.

🔮🔮🔮 Last semester, @rubysircar @rafal_morusiewicz and I @gui_ma_ taught together the Master Projekt Seminar @macriticalstudies — this coming Thursday 15:30-17:00, we present the beautiful results of this lovely course at the Library of @akbild , a collective publication 🤓 comprised of ten riso-printed zines, produced with the support of @diedruckstube 💪💪💪 bring 💸 as we made 50 editions of the whole 10-pack for the launch event The publication follows the themes and references within our course, which dealt with the convergence of archival and artistic research, as well as a framing of archives as both sites of resistance and resistant instances. We (Guilherme Maggessi, Rafał Morusiewicz, Ruby Sircar) invited the students to create and produce riso-printed zines that focus on specific nodes within their own research projects and their relations to the seminar’s topics and discussions. The publication features contributions by Alexandra Corodan, Amina Bamieh, Celeste Mae, Ema Benčíková & Mmametsi Claus, Jasemin Khaleli, Joanna Zoe, Martina Lajczak, Natália Zajačiková, Laura Egger-Karlegger, and Robin Ilian Grossmann. The seminar and the resulting publication take place in the context of Rafał Morusiewicz and Guilherme Maggessi’s artistic-research project „W/ri/gh/ting Archives through Artistic Research“ (PEEK AR716, 2022-2026) @fwf_at
