exponential fade

So thankful and happy to be in @hollywoodvibe @hollywooddancejamz workshop rooms this year! Photographing classes has my heart — the goal walking in: to be an inconspicuous hype person. The outcome is always a whole story of discoveries (dancers learning how to learn!) and new self-regard beyond confidence, something that really shimmers out of these ballrooms every week. thankful for a lot this year; I cherish the process of finishing my first cameraless film ~ @belburymusic has the full mv for “motion kontrol” by @pneumatictubes / sharing here the direct negative scans of the original /glitter trash movie/ this is nail polish on clear 16mm leader with impossibly onyx-dark bark of these singed trees in central Texas where I was when the floods came. i accidentally cut my hand with an x-acto knife while splicing and kept some blood on the leader. wildflowers that grew near completely exposed deer skeletons are in here too. between houses, I let it all melt in the heat of my car - there is no proof of time without heat - how much can plastic take? (a lot) (i was also stupid in love and unable to let go, denying the precarity with everything) watching a silent scan like these is something I want to be a regular part of my life forever. now I know to paint one frame a day (prayer?) now I know how long it takes

Charlie was born 18 years ago today. I support a heavy emphasis on feeling good whenever possible, and by ~good I mean like something is true or congruent or even (mercifully) recognizable. Some places like that where my head has been lately (so many ways to lose your mind and also find it) 1. from “I Would Die 4 U” the mv out today starring @laurenauder | Prince’s song versioned by her and @wendyandlisa ~~ love the feeling of wishing so much that I made this (since I was a kid that longing’s been familiar while watching the best mvs) and wanting to witness Lauren’s performance and the deadline of light in this space 💓 ~~ @hannah_kit_mason_ was movement director and choreographed <3 2. from “Young Lion” by Sade Adu directed by Sophie Muller feat. Izaak Adu ~ these are all Sade’s personal archives, a wonder, this history is woven into larger testaments right now of trans kids and full-sighted love and healed adults who make good parents <<33 (both these videos out via @redhotorg on TRANSA) 3. this comes to my mind most days as a challenge thru the noise, also probably because ~as a Leo 😂 4. it’s crazy that we still have the moon, that we are alive at the same time, that we can find each other, et al 5. been really struggling to focus and complete tasks and this bite sized plan helps - maybe it will help u 2 (love silly little acronyms) 6. taking long exposures with a phone I am very grateful to have is my ~meditation practice~ noticing the scale of what I choose to photograph is so different these days

Charlie, you light up every day and every room and every thought. I love you so much and I’m honored to be your mom. The day you came into this world was the best day of my life and then each day meant more than the one before. Sixteen ♏️

Happy Mother’s Day to all the nurturing friends I love and admire. There was a time before Charlie was in preschool that I lived the life of a stay at home mom until 3pm every day and then went to work as a copy editor til after midnight. Those mornings were whole worlds. We would go to storytime at the library or go to the UNT campus and lurk the music building to listen to rehearsals. From the moment he could say anything at all I loved hearing him talk. When I see the person in this picture I want to hug her and tell her she is doing just fine, and I want to hug this baby and stare at the birds by our house for an hour.
