Dream Bank - Echoes from Sleep
Unaffected by gravity or structure, dreams combine our experiences, desires and fears to form surreal scenarios that transcend reality and dissolve the boundaries of space and time. They bridge the gap between the conscious and the unconscious, make the impossible conceivable and deal with what would otherwise remain inaccessible. As an unsolved cognitive enigma, dreams succeed in blurring the threshold between reality and illusion, giving rise to visions beyond sleep.
In her installation, Lynn Scheidweiler (
@ly______nn ) creates a space where the threshold between the conscious and the unconscious becomes sensitive. The horse, untamed and powerful, becomes both the emblem of the dream and, in the form of the Dream Bank, a living archive that preserves visitors' dreams. Each contribution is integrated as a fragment of a visual composition, created by the artist in dialogue with the AI. Just as the human consciousness weaves lived experiences into dreamlike images, the AI draws on data to shape scenarios.
Around a Morris column, the visual interpretations of dreams merge into a resonant space of the unconscious, where points of view overlap and invite immersion in a collective imagination. In a subtle interplay, dreams take shape and emerge from the imagination to take root in reality. The slide acts as a bridge between these worlds, opening up access to the depths of the unconscious.
