What I love about working with super 8 is it’s the exact opposite of what my normal cinematography work looks like. Instead of planning every detail super 8 allows for a willingness to let the image come to you. What comes out of the lab might look vastly different then what I imagined or what I intended but I think that’s what gives super 8 its charm.
Is it easier to find a LUT online and just throw it on your footage? Sure. But is it as fun as crafting a specific look to match your story? For me the answer is no.
