Processing in the studio. Interested in this whole explosion of sharing creative process online, where in many cases the performance of technique becomes the whole artwork. Or someone does something that looks amazing but ultimately they just use it as background for a face or a butterfly.
Now I'm trying to look at how I work when I'm documenting, how I work when I'm not. How does my work get affected by the performance of it? I've done some good practice recently at just leaning into my animal self and caring less about how that's perceived, and I think that allows me to make and document my art where I feel there's a better balance between the performance and the unseen layers of work.

Time is always lapsing. But less recognized is how it also stretches, returns to the start of loops; it puddles and pools around us, drains away suddenly and just as suddenly surrounds us. Frame 1 is 18 seconds of drawing lines, sped up for our addiction to immediacy. Frame 2 is 32 seconds with 2 lines drawn in "real time". Which do you prefer? Started some larger format drawings early in the winter, then got busy with moving and making ice and snow art outside. Drawing went into small, portable sketchbooks mostly. This drawing is where this thing of designing and selling tees all started. At my last bday party I had an overwhelming urge to draw and sketched out this and another face (also on a tee now). It was a liberating moment, partly due to using oil pastels which i dont like and never use, and even more exciting was to print what had felt like a purely process-based work where I only made it to survive the situation and give it this permanence and new life. More on stickers and art and public space. Living as an artist to me partly means getting this unique and beautiful exposure to magic moments, and even getting to share in their creation. This sticker is made from an image I took after seeing a banana peel and writing my tag lunch next to it. Food references time references abundance and scarcity and inequality references and light hearted jokes about it all. So when I saw what appears to me bright pink iced cake smeared on a lamp post, it was a truly delightful opportunity to add this sticker. What a special moment for me. I also love to wonder about whether anyone noticed this, and what they might have thought or felt. I wonder how that pink stuff got there and why. So many questions, some about nothing, some invented. This is how I get to know the spaces around me, human and non-human and all of our traces combining in public space.

Been wanting to experiment for years with wood carving and burning, I guess craving to learn and practice more craft based creative work. Grateful to @bibabicyclette for starting the Creative Pack, a series of art-making-in-community workshops, where a new group of wonderful people including @chrisanthachetty , @benjamin.castle , @avorakamayifos , @tishamyles and others met regularly at @jd_social_gadfly beautiful space to work on our projects together. It was a beautiful way of holding apace for each other, and in following @rickrubin 's book The Creative Act, I got to water this seed of wood burning and carving. Frame 1 is one of my early experiments, and frame 2 has the details of Saturday's event where I'll be showing my first full piece from the workshop series. There'll also be ways to enjoy mine and the other participants art through taste-based entry points designed by the great Chrisantha Chetty. I'm excited.
