LAND, PEOPLE, SOIL & RELATIONS: Join us on March 7th at 3pm at the Food Lab Studio for a new episode of Kitchen Talks @lolalokaal In this episode, we will discuss food as relations: relations with soil, poeple and land. We will make bread from scratch and spreads, and enjoy our evening with three special guests. Federico San Bonifacio of @agricola_san_bonifacio will talk about regenerative agriculture and systemic ecoservices and flour. Aria Spinelli of @aziendailcolletto will talk about land, olive trees, and resilience. and Lola Lokaal co-worker Dora Mester, from @intouch_amsterdam . She will present her new project, HOLD, with Ida Kiss and talk about inspiration and relations between people and nature. Our speakers will guide us while we taste @aziendailcolletto 2025 harvested olive oil. We will also talk about ancient grains, agroforestry, and safe spaces, while baking bread and using different seasonal ingredients to make spreads. Looking back, *Sensing Interdependence* by @artsforthecommons at @de_appel with @studioamatoriale extended far beyond the exhibition through public programs, performances, and collective activations. From conversations on ocean justice and rights of nature to collaborations with social movements and shared meals rooted in regenerative practices, the project became a living infrastructure of care, solidarity, and learning. Kitchen Talks Crossing food, cultures, and memories 14.02.26 12:00-16:00 Food Lab Studio launches Kitchen Talks, a new series of food workshops at Lokaal 432, to explore the connections between food, culture, history, and sustainability. The series creates informal, welcoming culinary experiences where cooking and eating together become a starting point for shared stories, dialogue, and exchange. For each gathering, selected guest chefs—artists and cultural practitioners from around the world—will share a recipe and invite participants to prepare a dish collectively. The shared meal becomes a space for conversation around their work, personal experiences, and the social or cultural themes they bring into the neighborhood. These are not formal events, but convivial social occasions designed to connect IJburg residents, Lokaal 432 co-workers, and the wider Amsterdam community through food, collective cooking, and storytelling. Come join us Friday 27 June, 6-9pm: Opening Saturday 28 June, 10.30am-8pm: Public Programme With art collective Arts For the Commons (A4C): Rosa Jijon and Francesco Martone Curated by Aria Spinelli and Angelo Castucci Sensing Interdependence is a retrospective exhibition on the work of the Italian art collective Arts For the Commons (A4C), a collaboration between Ecuadorian artist Rosa Jijon and activist and artistic researcher Francesco Martone. The exhibition tackles the notion of interdependence between nature and humans. It is guest-curated by Aria Spinelli and Angelo Castucci. Through the perspective of A4C’s artistic methodology, the exhibition proposes to rethink interconnected empathic, tactile, and political relations in the context of the rights of nature and the rights of people(s). The works on show ask audiences to harness interdependency in order to navigate the complexities of climate justice, resistance against extractivism, the legal personhood of ecosystems, and new institutional art forms in the ecological crises of our times. By conceptually revisiting the collective’s research and production, the exhibition proposes a small archipelago of three installations hosting the artworks, curated around three core aspects of A4C’s artistic approach. These islands map geographies of mobility and communities’ resistance, going beyond anthropocentrism and the rights of nature.
