COVER REVEAL! ⁣ ⁣ Random House and @thousandvoicesmedia are thrilled to introduce TIGER’S MOUTH by @lucyrtan —a sweeping novel of privilege, identity, and ambition. ⁣ ⁣ Two Jacks. One summer at a tech giant. A friendship that becomes a rivalry. ⁣ ⁣ Jack Chen is the ambitious son of caterers from Queens. Jack Owens is the depressed son of a tech company’s billionaire founder. When these two young men from very different backgrounds meet during an internship, it sparks an intense friendship—and even more intense competition. ⁣ ⁣ Nostalgic, heart-wrenching, and propulsive, TIGER’S MOUTH is a nuanced portrait of complex friendship, family dynamics, and love in its most unexpected forms.⁣ ⁣ We can’t wait for you to read it this fall! Out November 17th, 2026. Pre-order at the link in our bio. ⁣ ⁣ Cover art by Cassie Vu

A belated thank you to @edmondsbookshop for having me as a part of PNBA’s Spring pop-up! The most charming store with handwritten recs and giant handmade paper dragon 🐉… all a short drive from Seattle. I should have gotten more photos but here’s me and my crew getting ready to hand out advance reader copies to booksellers.

Thoughts on books and writing, plus events and other news! 💖 Why yes, my dog did try to claw my editorial notes away from me. From his POV, they were getting too much of my attention.

A packed house at @elliottbaybookco to celebrate the publication of Kim Fu’s The Valley of Vengeful Ghosts. This perfect literary (light) horror novel features a haunted house, a haunted protagonist, and ghosts of every kind. A thrilling, gorgeously written, quick, intense read. I loved every word. We have signed copies at @secretgardenbks ! But available wherever, probably. Kim is also doing a full tour including stops in LA (tonight!) and NYC… check out their brilliance in person 👻

We have until January 30th to urge our senators to block funding for ICE. Let’s try to call our reps every day. The app @5calls has made it incredibly easy to make a call in less than a minute. Here’s what it looks like step by step: 1. Put in your zip code 2. See list of issues, which includes news/tracking on where this issue stands in congress and any relevant deadlines 3. Click into it for summary of issue 4. The app IDs congresspeople who represent you and who currently have power to do something about this issue 5. Script That’s it! Please consider doing this. We are coming up on midterms, so our thoughts as constituents are most powerful right now.

2025 was the year I finally learned how to rest and also the year I was thoroughly kicked into shape. I spent 55 nights away from home this year. Did a full edit of my novel, then turned in 2 more rounds after it sold. When I wasn’t working, I surrounded myself with friends, food, books, yarn. This year I reunited with family, gained a brother in law and lost a grandma, celebrated my grandparents’ life, learned to oil paint, play mahjong and tennis. I got to sketch castles in Ghent and see people I love get married and open too many blind boxes. My year was quiet in some ways but it felt loud in others, like the universe was finally hearing my call and sending back a roar.

On a blustery day in October, I had the honor of being photographed by @jessedittmar in my home and neighborhood in Seattle. Some very magical images were made! The first two are my faves. The last three (cropped here) I’m considering for my book jacket, and I would appreciate your vote 📪🎈
