Much like the feeling of longing you felt in your youth over that person you met through a friend of a friend on MSN through the wild halcyon days of group chats after highschool in which you discussed your least favourite personality traits of your classmates that a slightly older self would assume are things that would be shed away as they grow older- but your 30 year old self is starting to realise those traits might just actually be in fact baked into a single persons position of privilege in this cold grim world and will never be challenged because of this.
I too felt this longing for the release of these songs. I wished for their public sharing in the same way I wish I had a fully formed personality in highschool devoid of great deficit that was likely the reason for the continuous failure of all my personal relationships up until my early twenties. The kind of way where I had conceded that their lack of coming to fruition was simply a building block of discomfort that rendered me the person I am now.
Will I be talking to a therapist about this band or these songs in 25 years much like I am about the childhood trauma of early primary school bullying? Perhaps
Will I resent the world and spend an hour in a chair with my eyes closed with someone asking me to “describe the pit of sadness” when it comes to speaking about these songs?
Look more than likely??
Regardless- this EP Nothing and All Things is a beautiful snapshot of some songs a group of friends wrote together some point between 2020-2023, hamstrung by covid among other things.
But it’s here now, so if you’d be interested I think we’d all be overjoyed if people would listen to it and tell us that they liked it.
Current creative projects you’ll be able to find us working on include:
Yaz:
@yasmin.delaine (solo stuff), @lilyofthevalleymusic (Yaz), @postheavenmusic (Yaz and Jordan),
Jordan: @wish.melb (@reduced_ solo stuff), @palespells (Jordan)
@catalina.loren is working on their art at @stray.arte
And @kvlt_az_fvck is just bumming around quote: “don’t message me no I’m not free to drum in your project”
Rites of Spring played like 19 shows and broke up and changed the face of music forever.
We’ve played like 5 and probably at least mildly impressed between 20-30 people which honestly is basically the goal post I set for any musical output I do.
Originally I had this date booked for my other band but that entire lineup fell through because God was smiting me for thinking something might go as planned for once-
And so began that scramble to fill this hole in my diary with something that could placate the burning whip of a band booker trying to book shows in local venues now competing with international acts such as My Chem, Taylor Swift and Blink 182 for the first time since 2019
@gilcerrone and @dream_inertia have stepped in to create a very special event within the Skramz scene here in Naarm at @thelastchancerockandrollbar
Would I compare the renaissance of Skramz happening Aus right now to the 85 Revolution Summer that changed music forever leading to eventual sold out tour of My Chemical Romance 40 years later???
I mean who would start a post comparing their band to Rites of Spring???
Anyway if you don’t come the band booker at Last Chance will personally take me out back and murder me (and not in the fun quick painless way, trust me)
Poster by @stray.arte
As one of the strongest swimmers of my primary school and early highschool classes (I have big feet…) it might surprise you that I haven’t so much as stepped in a pool or the ocean in over 10 years because despite QLD being one of my most frequent tour destinations in that time I guess I watched a Gregg Araki film at 15 or some shit and realised that bodies of water were lame and that wearing all black, doing heaps of speed and having a load of queer sex was COOL AND BASED
Will this be rectified in a few weeks when I play with
@ymdelaine@ashleighhazelmusic@lackthelow@gush.band.melb@palespells@dtuxband@_plovers_
And @twaag666
At @underthealmonds ???
…look probably not
I will however be happily sitting around willing to talk to you about any Gregg Araki movie that’s isn’t Mysterious Skin (that’s more a 2am crying to each other convo) and whether or not the wives tale about big feet are true
First listen to vocal tracks over instrumentals đź« (melting into the floor but in a good way)

@ymdelaine laid down the vocals for our EP today in 1.5hrs like an absolute legend. She is so smol but her voice is fkn huge.

One time before @thefckups played at my work I caught the sound engineer hiding all the good microphones and they looked at me and said “The Fvckups don’t need these 🤫”
And that’s the motherfucking energy this show is gonna bring- the kind that makes sound engineers cower in fear of what unholy fucked up shit we’re gonna be doing to their stage. (Y’all see that footage of the live wire incident at that Extortion show at @thetotehotel a couple weeks back???)
Joining us are @nepha.lem and @scraepe.band because that’s fucking right, we’ve been accepted by actual punk bands we don’t just play Emo shows
We have blast beats and shit in our songs, I used to be a touring drummer in a crust/grind band goddamnit!!
WHAT THE FUCK IS UP DENNY’S?!!??
I just realised we hadn’t posted about this show we are playing TOMORROW at @theoldbar for our good friend @mustwegospellitout FIRST EVER SOLO EXHIBITION at @theoldbargallery
Us and our friends @keratvn delivering the mother fucking SKRAMZ
There will be indecipherable screaming, noodle guitar bits, just absolutely off chops batshit insane drumming and a bunch of people with social anxiety all attempting to hang out for a few hours
All for the sweet low low price of less than a pint of shit beer at The Bendi ($15)
We on at like 8:30 or some shit
Aight how many of you emo kids are we bout to bump into at Good Things tomorrow? 🖤💀#imnotokay(ipromise)
