“Todo era por ser fuego”

Todo era por ser fuego brought together a selection of texts in Spanish and Italian drawn from the book of the same name by Roberta Marrero.
The readings moved between languages, translation, and collective voice, tracing a space where poetry became resistance, affirmation, and political imagination. The Italian translations were by Sandra Cane.
Marrero’s writing emerges from a queer and travesti tradition in which aesthetics and life remain inseparable. Language does not simply describe the world: it traverses it, contests it, and rewrites it from historically marginalized bodies.
As the texts insist, body, desire, and politics are part of the same space of struggle and visibility:

Accompagnare il lavoro delle altre artiste è uno dei compiti che più amo. La direzione artistica di una compagnia è anche questo e mi appassiona moltissimo poter seguire l’immaginazione materica di artiste come @alexiasarantopoulou . Questo lungo periodo di costruzione di Άνοιξη | Anixi è stato intenso nella sua ramificazione tra Atene e Roma, tra la poesia di Frank O’Hara e il mondo di Derek Jarman. Tra i suoni di Lena Platonos c’era già un giardino pieno di fiori, di cui le radici si nascondevano nella densa carta di un prato di poster. Grazie Alexia, Fedra e Ondina - merda merda Skatà Skatà à tout à l’heure 💕🐦🔥🌺
