Each site has a unique ecosystem, so we make sure that every design choice not only adds aesthetic value—whether by merging the home into the visual landscape—but also contributes to its protection.

Introducing: Breamtail.
Set on Northland’s East Coast, this home is designed to capture breathtaking views while staying connected to the landscape. Large glazed areas and framed openings bring the outside in, making the most of the surroundings without feeling exposed. Inside, open, light-filled spaces soften the raw strength of concrete, creating a home that feels both solid and welcoming.
With gale-force winds and driving storms being a constant force in this environment, durability was key. The house sits low on the site, anchored by deeply bedded concrete walls, while a simple roofline limits exposure to the elements. The result is a home that stands strong in its surroundings while offering a comfortable, inviting retreat.

Two Waters, Mangawhai Heads
Set on the semi-rural fringes of Mangawhai Heads, this home for our clients was always about the essentials. A strong connection to the landscape, the lake outlook, and an easy life outdoors.
A simple gabled form follows the natural contours of the site, clad entirely in black corrugated longrun.
The home is arranged as two wings around a central garage, each orienting outward to sun and outdoors. A clear-roofed carport draws light into this middle zone while visually breaking down the roofline from the street.
The pool sits as a natural extension of the main living pavilion. Inside, exposed concrete floors and trimless white walls are softened by plywood, built-in cabinetry, and considered furnishings. A home ready for real life.

The juxtaposition of two personalities, crafted into their own space.
“Counterpart” is made up of two separate forms, each with its own identity, brought together in a way that still feels cohesive.
The two-storey volume frames the wider landscape into more controlled, considered views, while the single-storey living space opens out fully to sun, deck, and surroundings. Its angled form resolves the tension between capturing views and maximising natural light.
While the footprint has been kept compact, the internal planning creates a range of spaces to move through and settle into. From quieter areas like the library and daybed, through to elevated spaces like the upper office, each part of the home offers a different way to experience it.
A project that sits somewhere between rural and refined, familiar and unexpected.

Unlimited natural and financial resources are nothing but fiction.
We focus on achieving the best possible outcome with the least amount of resources, both natural and financial, making sure every element of the design adds maximum value and impact.

The metal cladding forms a continuous skin that defines the building.
On a site exposed to rain, salt, sun and wind, often within the same day, durability was essential. @unicotesteel Lux Corten Red was selected for its corrosion resistance and depth of tone. Unlike traditional Corten, it maintains consistency over time while withstanding harsh coastal conditions. The result is a resilient outer shell that endures the intensity of the coast without losing depth of tone.

Due to the location of our Titirangi project and the exterior aesthetic we wanted to achieve, a lot of work went into securing resource consent.
We pulled the team together, worked through the process with the local council, and got the consent over the line, ready for @warrenadolphhomes to deliver a great result.

The house was imagined as almost geological in nature. Responding to planning constraints, Fairhaven sits low and grounded in tone, composed as a singular mass against the terrain.
Rather than projecting outward, it settles into the landscape, shaped by context rather than imposed upon it. The form aligns with the weathered character of the coastline, allowing the land to remain primary.
