for earth day this year, lowernine.org partnered with @keeplouisianabeautiful , @entergy , louisiana blue, @thegreenproject and @nordcommission to do a clean up of the lower 9th ward. we set up at oliver bush playground where we up-cycled some of the illegally dumped tires and turned them into beautiful planters with some native pollinator plants. it was a great day over all!! thank you so much to all the volunteers who came out to keep louisiana beautiful!

That’s a wrap…on spring break programming for 2026! Immense gratitude for all our partners and volunteers who helped us complete repair work on five homes for legacy families from the Lower 9th Ward. Volunteers were up on ladders, scaffolding, and roofs, painting, installing gutters, repairing window frames, siding, and soffit & fascia. A few dedicated volunteers were also under houses, installing plumbing and replacing sill plates!

Day one of volunteering!! Our Alt-Break Cabbies aided in restoration and brightening up a home affected by Hurricane Katrina. Our volunteers had a blast, as many had no prior construction experience, but were able to learn! Thanks to @lowernineorg for teaching our volunteers and cultivating a space that aids the flourishing community! 🤗💙
