We’re proud to announce the 2025 CCEE Impact Report! Check out highlights from the past year. 🔬 Innovative research, 🏆 faculty and staff awards, 👷 impactful student experiences, and more: link in bio!
We celebrated our seniors this week! Together, they shared future plans, received Capstone results, and came to an understanding of the best way to slice a piece of pizza 😂🍕
So proud of what this group has accomplished!
New generation. Same passion, motivation, and determination 🔥
We had a chance to catch up with a couple of Iowa State @iowastateu construction engineering @isuccee majors at @agcofamerica in Orlando, and let’s just say they’re excited to get out there and make waves.
It’s refreshing to see so much of the younger generation interested in the trades, isn’t it? They’re quite literally building our future, and this is the energy we love to see ⚡
Help us wish Ella and Alexa the best as they approach graduation!

We’re happy to celebrate Associate Professor Cristina Poleacovschi for earning the ASCE Halpin Award for construction!
Named in honor of Daniel W. Halpin, Ph.D., Dist.M.ASCE who is recognized as a leading authority in the world on the use of simulation in studying construction processes. In the 15th year of this honor, Poleacovschi is among accomplished faculty and fellows earning this award for their innovation in construction education and research. #CycloneEngineers
“Don’t compare your journey to others. There are so many different things you can do with a degree in environmental engineering. Celebrate each other’s success and do what makes you feel fulfilled.”

These Cyclones brought home the hardware 🏆from the recent Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Regions 6/7 Open Competition. Project Management earned 1st place and Electrical earned 2nd— this crew worked so hard, and the effort paid off! #cycloneengineers
Ella Lovin has made it a point to jump into competitive, professional, and social opportunities since she entered the construction engineering program. Now in her final semester, she reflects on the mindset that led her here and the community she built 👷♀️📚🏆

Concurrent environmental engineering undergraduate and master’s student Ruadhri Deans has an undergraduate research experience with Assistant Professor Joe Charbonnet’s group, working to understand forever chemicals in water. Ruadhri really connected with the research process – collecting data, testing procedures, and refining results to improve the future of water quality. 💧 Read more about a recent project and Ruadhri’s story with the link in our bio!
Maintaining Iowa’s 71,000 miles of gravel country roads is a challenge — one that Araz Hasheminezhad (’24), a civil engineering graduate student, is hoping to help solve.
His solution uses 3D-printed geogrids, weblike structures made from recycled plastic that are designed to improve the performance and longevity of unpaved roads.
“The composite geosynthetic is performing even better than we expected,” Hasheminezhad says. “After a heavy rainstorm and snowfall, we visited the test site to assess its performance in wet conditions. We found that the geogrid also improves drainage and moisture management.”
