Weāre not a sports club š So why are we called āInterVarsityā?
The answer to that question is a bit simpler than you may think, but thereās a reason we have held fast to the name for decades! Weāre proud to be InterVarsity!
Save this post and send it to someone who has asked you this question!
What makes InterVarsity, InterVarsity? š¤
It isnāt as complicated as you may think! At our core, we believe:
š¤ Christian community is important to have in college
š§” The Gospel of Jesus is meant to be shared
š We can be transformed through studying Godās Word
𤲠We are called to servant leadership
š Prayer is how we express faith, love, and dependence on God
āļø We should act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly in all we do

āI joined [InterVarsity] because I wanted a sticker,ā Sophie, a student at the University of Michigan-Flint, said.
While her reason for trying out InterVarsity was simple, Sophieās circumstances were not. Growing up Catholic, Sophie used to be a Christian but became distanced from God when tragedy struck her family. When she began college, Sophie wanted to stay far away from Jesus.
But still, she felt something in her life was missing. So she decided to join a club.
Then, Sophie ran into an InterVarsity table and the sticker that led her to give Christian community a chance. She went to large group, and there God showed up. Through the support of the chapter, Sophieās healing began.

As bittersweet as the end of the year is, itās also one of the best times for community āā community at those last small and large groups, community in the sand volleyball courts, community on the retreats, community at the celebrations, community while locking in together for finals, and (ofc š) community through shared meals! This is a time to celebrate everything the Lord has done this year! Weāre so grateful to have each other!

How does being a Christian inform the work that you do?
Today is International Nurses Day, which is also the birthday of a very important historical figure: Florence Nightingale. But did you know that, on top of being the āFounder of Modern Nursing,ā she was also devout Christian?
Nightingaleās faith was a big motivator in everything she did, from establishing the first nursing school to revolutionizing healthcare! She viewed nursing as a calling directly from God, an outlet she could use to bring Godās compassion and healing to the world!
"Unless I am a fellow-worker with Divine Power... shall I work at all? To be a fellow-worker with God is the highest inspiration of which we can conceive man capable,ā she said.
Whether youāre involved in @nurseschristianfellowship or not, thereās a lot to learn from Florence Nightingale! How can you view your calling/profession in the same way?

š„Not too late for God to work:
Despite becoming involved towards the end of junior year, God still used Angelicaās time in InterVarsity to transform her, grow her leadership, and do something new in her chapter community!
Angelica didnāt have impressive Bible knowledge, but she did have a relationship with Jesus and a desire to share his word.
During her time at Urbana '25 a simple comment from her Bible study leader helped her realize that God could use her to lead.
šRead Angelicaās full story at the link in our bio to learn how God is using her bravery and vulnerability to inspire other students in their faith journey!

This weekend is Motherās Day! In Isaiah 66:13, Godās care for His people is compared to a mother comforting her child; a tender, intimate picture of devoted love.
How might you approach prayer differently today knowing God cares for you in this way?
For those who donāt have a mother present in their lives, this verse offers a beautiful reminder: the Lordās love is constant, personal, and deeply compassionate, holding you close with the same gentleness and security a mother gives her child.
š Share this with a mother you admire!

āWe are especially grateful for all the senior leaders; their time, dedication, and love leading our fellowship has made it what it is today. We wish you the best of luck as you enter a new chapter in your lives. We pray that God will bless you continuously and that you will always be reminded of His love and grace. Donāt be afraid to come back and be a guest speaker!ā - the Boston Universityās Asian American InterVarsity chapterās message to the seniors
