I was admiring a motorcycle when the owner came over and invited me to sit on the motorcycle. The owner happened to be one of my favorite photographers (Brian Bowen Smith).
So I sat on the bike. And the photographer asked for my phone and took a photo of me. Then Josh Brolin came over and took the phone and started editing the photo. And then I got off the bike and walked over and told him that I liked him in Goonies and Dune.
And that's when he said let's take a photo. Some things just don't happen in order. I'm a bigger fan of both of them now. 💕
I really should have said, "I fucking loved you in No Country For Old Men". That was my favorite performance. And he was great in Sicario. But I only said, "I liked you in Goonies and Dune." He took my phone to take a photo of us and everyone jumped in. Haha! @joshbrolin Serious screen legend and super warm and normal person. What a fun night! ❤️
Today was the 4th time I've hosted this hike and each time, there's this really nice energy after we've summited. In my research (for sharing historical facts with the group), I learned that this was initially a big billboard for advertising real estate development in Hollywoodland (intended to be up for 18 months in 1923/1924). Eventually it became a symbolic sign for the community called "Hollywood" and later on became LA's iconic momument #111. From the @laconservancy website: "Today, the Hollywood Sign continues to symbolize Los Angeles’ sense of place and inspires the hopes and dreams of many."
Additionally, there was a lot of drama around this sign but you'll have to catch the next one to find out (or do your own research!).
