MEET THE MEMBERS! @sculptorsguild is thrilled to have Artist, Lori Horowitz @lori_horowitz on board! Lori Horowitz is a NY native with a BFA from SUNY Purchase. In addition to her studio art, Horowitz has worked as an arts professor, scenic designer, scenic artist for film, theater, and television, and as a curator and gallerist. Since 2016, Lori Horowitz has shown extensively with fourteen solo exhibitions. She has participated in over 100 national gallery and museum group shows. In 2016 Horowitz founded a not-for-profit ArtSpace. Horowitz serves as President for the NY Society of Women Artists and is a board member of the Bethel Roundtable. And so much more! Through her work, Lori “explores the often-overlooked interactions between humanity and the environment, examining both social disconnection and moments of harmony. . Her work unveils facades and penetrates issues, revealing underlying truths by addressing topics of nature, belonging and place in society. Materiality is central to her practice, creating with a variety of media through painting, torching, fuming, and shaping, allowing her to collapse and expand between two- and three-dimensional space. Drawing from relief-sculpture traditions, Horowitz creates copper wire–mesh figures whose transparent, precarious forms are patinated through fuming to rich organic tones. These sculptural figures cast haunting shadows that echo the fragility of life and balance. Human forms emerge from nature, integrating symbolic elements like carnivorous plants and fungi to suggest hidden dangers beneath social surfaces. By merging nature’s serenity with the tensions of current conflict, my work reflects recurring struggles throughout history and seeks to reconnect us to one another, to our environment, and to the shared responsibility of nurturing harmony between humanity and Nature.” For more about Lori’s extensive background, visit: ww.lorihorowitz.com/ /lori-horowitz /artists/lori-horowitz #sculptorsguildmembers #artist #nycart #sculptors
