Shout out to Mr. Holmgren for making this book. Retrosuburbia is a total treasure trove @retrosuburbiaofficial and I will be using it thoroughly for this course. I had to grab another copy after I gave my last copy away! Highly recommend the ebook or physical copy if this was of any interest to you. I barely scratched the surface.
Plenty of resources on his website beyond the book. David has been writing essays on these topics for years. (I believe his wife hosts an online course about homesteading skills called Do with Su)
If you join us this semester, you'll find my goal is to facilitate completing regenerative projects together and learning from them as we go. Based on interests we can find a role that suits you. I was chatting with a fellow teacher about her excitement in fermenting. This is an important role, and totally welcome. Not everybody has to be a farmer, a natural builder, or a soil nut, or, for that matter, a water harvester.
We are building community here, not copy and pasting. You bring you, and we bring we.

Check out this permaculture site in Costa Mesa! @benito.nopal crushed it.
All the rain water is caught, grey water fed fruit trees, native plants poppin off, cool cob bench, and a curb cut that catches road runoff.
I wanted to test the soil, so while we were at the chaparral permaculture meetup in December, Benito and I geeked and squeaked on over to the bioswale for a sample.
I posted the results on YouTube along with classical music and some text along the way to share with you a bit about what we are looking at and why.
I'd like to conduct further testing on this site and others that Benito has worked on to showcase the amazing work he is doing and capture walk throughs with him where he discusses the thought behind his work.
If your interested in this work and would like to get started he is running a Permaculture Design Course starting this April, so please don't hesitate to check that out. As an alumni I can say that it was a pleasure to learn from him and be a part of his community in action.

Ujima: Site Tour and Art Bazaar
@sunraykelley personally worked on three structures that rest on this property. It was an absolute pleasure to experience project after project of natural building wonders here in the middle of the burbs of Portland Oregon. Blessed to be at this year's vbc to glimpse into the magic of @cityrepairproject in person and with camera in hand. Thank you so much to the team for this summer and please connect me with her. At "5 corners" the Cully neighborhood threw a chalk party to inspire a future mural painting event at Cully fest.
