The best thing I’ve ever done is create love. This young man right here is love personified; I am a lucky mom. Hard work pays off & this right here is an epic payoff. Proud doesn’t even begin to cut it…I love and adore both the young man he has become and who he is evolving into. I marvel that he once grew inside me. Even then he was tenacious and goofy and kept me on my toes. Today he is kind and funny, empathetic and clever. He’s helpful and hardworking and growing inside and out on the daily. I’m so very thankful for his insight and love. Happy Mother’s Day

What a pleasure and a privledge to bring together incredible leaders; women in conversation + community. This week I, along with Nora Fehlbaum, the CEO of @vitra and Lili Radu the Founder of @veecollective hosted an unforgettable evening with some of NY’s most talented women creatives at the gorgeous NYC Vitra showroom overlooking the spectacular Manhattan bridge - its strength and substance much like the conversation and community in the room - we shared the importance of female leadership, creating strong reflections to guide us through this often complicated industry, and shared perspectives from all over the creative spectrum: design, dance, fashion, publishing and more. The conversation was meaningful, necessary and a lovely way to bring folks together to share experience. I’m grateful for Vitra and @femaledesigncouncil bringing us all together, and for the wisdom and leadership in the room. Thank you to all who attended 💫

As part of Salon Art & Design Conversations, Lora Appleton, Female Design Council Founder, moderated “Mentorship and Legacy: Building the Next Generation of Gallerists,” a Salon discussion between Isabela Milagre, fellow FDC member and Founder of Bossa Furniture, Anna Wozniak-Starak, Founder of Craftica Gallery, Mia Karlova, Founder of Mia Karlova Galerie, and Simon Stewart, Founder of Charles Burnand Gallery. Panelists engaged in fruitful dialogue on the challenges of entry into the field, the role of fairs and institutions in supporting new voices, and how mentorship can help preserve both craftsmanship and innovation across generations. Attendees left with crucial insight on how knowledge is passed within the field, how forging strong relationships is imperative and how to build a more collaborative, inclusive future within the gallery ecosystem. 💫Thrilled to share that Material Dialogues organized by me on behalf of @femaledesigncouncil for @thesalonny opens tonight! The installation features work by 14 exceptional FDC Members from across North America. *Be sure to stop by the presentation in the historic South Hall of the @parkavearmory , on view from Nov 6 through November 10 in a special jewel box vignette. Unfolding across media — from sculpture and ceramics to metalwork, lighting, and conceptual design — “Material Dialogues” brings together twenty works that explore material language as a form of communication, identity, and empowerment. The presentation reflects the FDC’s expansive membership, which includes artists and designers working at the intersection of craft, innovation, and advocacy. I am so proud and honored to work within this special community. Designing Motherhood opened @madmuseum tonight and I am honored to have played a small part in the exhibition as well as have @kindermodern work (1966 Bernard Holdaway Tomotom child chair) in the show. Thank you to Curator @alixschwartz and Elizabeth Kohen #elizabethkohen for including my work and @michellemillarfisher & @amberwinick for creating such an incredible book and academic ode to motherhood through the lens of industry and advocacy on such an important effort: Motherhood and exploring the history and impact of design on human reproduction. it is critical to continue to shine a light on all things parenthood, birth and reproduction and examine the objects that shape the experience of pregnancy and birth while calling for better reproductive care. 🍼👶🏼🤰🪑🍦🥔
