Project Completion | Leonard Court, Sorrento
Long Contracting were entrusted with the heritage renovation and extensive expansion of this charming 1870's limestone house - situated overlooking the Sorrento aquarium beach.
Designed by @pleysierperkins , this house combines the old with new perfectly, allowing multi-generational family zoning whilst maintaining the stunning beauty of the original limestone features.
With incredible uninterrupted ocean views - a clever roof top balcony has been sunken into the roof space, allowing a stunning vantage point to enjoy all year round.
COMPLETED PROJECT: Hubert Estate Winery
Located at the gateway of the Yarra Valley, Long Contracting were tasked with the re-development of St Hubert’s Winery.
This landmark project consists of an intricate and impressionable design, with no detail overlooked. The development consists of a multi-level cellar door with a curved trafficable green roof and amphitheatre, an open plan restaurant and a multi-use function centre.
This project did not come without its challenges. Poor ground conditions and flood prone topography resulted in Long Contracting having to pivot away from traditional construction methods and adopt innovative techniques. The cellar door is encompassed by ascending shotcrete walls reaching a peak height of 7 metres. The facade of the building is clad in over 150 lineal metres of copper cladding that follows the curvature of the roof to create an “Eyebrow” aesthetic from the top of the winery.
Inclement weather and COVID-19 meant that a collaborative and flexible approach was adopted by the Long Contracting team. This approach resulted in this legacy project being completed on-time and to a formidable level of quality.
With handover now successfully complete Long Contracting is proud to have contributed to the continued succession of one of the oldest wineries in the Yarra Valley.

More from Sorrento Cottage - our client's own paintings woven into the bathroom wall, alongside leather cabinet handles hand crafted by the client, and the scullery bench made from Huon pine salvaged from the original cottage; small, hands-on acts that make the house deeply personal and unmistakably theirs.

CBD Heritage Update ||
This heritage building in Melbourne's CBD was constructed just 12 years after Melbourne was founded. After extensive water damage and age-related deterioration, it’s now being carefully restored using traditional materials and techniques—hand-formed lime render, recreated mouldings, repaired plaster, and original joinery refinished in shellac French polish.
A huge credit to the specialist trades keeping these skills alive: bricklayers, renderers, plasterers, carpenters, joiners, painters and slate roofers.
Real craftsmanship. Real history. Proud to be part of it.

Progress is well underway on the Sorrento Cottage project in collaboration with @longcontracting .
.
Our clients, Richard & Annie, have called this site home for nearly 40 years - raising their family, planting every tree and shrub, and nurturing a landscape now enjoyed by their grandchildren.
.
With the new home carefully sited, they’ve been able to stay on the property during construction, living in the original cottage. It’s given them a front-row seat to the build, forming a close connection with the team - Annie even patrols the site with her trusty magnet wand, collecting stray nails and screws!
.
A build full of history, care, and connection - can’t wait to share more soon!
