Our new short documentary RESTORED with @dmarshmallow and @brooklyncoachworks is out now.
We started this project 18 months ago, and I’m proud to finally share it.
Most people know Daniel for his Land Rover restoration company, Brooklyn Coachworks. Fewer know that while traveling on another expedition to Northern Africa, he survived a life-threatening accident in Italy that left him paralyzed. Months of recovery followed. Learning to walk again. Having to start over.Â
After returning home he was struck with a renewed sense of purpose, and gratitude and watching his comeback over the last few years has been deeply inspiring.
This is only the beginning for him.
Grateful to Daniel for trusting me with this film and for opening his life to the camera along the way.

Finding the light. One of my favorite ways to shoot. After 10 years of living in NYC I made it to top of the rock for golden hour. Spent a few days running around Manhattan with Tishman Speyer.
A short directors cut of our branded content piece with @audiusa .
We took a journey upstate in the new Q3 on this moody winter day with @wmbrownproject and @yolandaedwards . Love diving more into the automotive space and couldn’t let this one sit on the hard drive.

RESTORED gave me something that commercial work hasn’t. Work with heart and emotion. Proof of what I believe filmmaking can be. Every door worth opening in my career was the result of creating something I put my heart into. This project was a labor of love and a sort of “spec” project for automotive storytelling.

There’s this saying that I think runs true. If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.
All the films and projects I’ve been proud of have been built by a team. Grateful for the many productions I’ve been able to be apart of over the years.

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of covering what might be one of the world’s greatest private watch collections with @teddybaldassarre . Two full-days of filming some of the rarest and most important timepieces ever compiled in the US. It was a privilege to help shape the visual language for a collection of this caliber.

For the crash scene in RESTORED, we needed to recreate the car flipped over to make it feel real.
I found a junkyard on Long Island through a location specialist. We found a car that matched closely with a Fiat Panda. We found an area just outside the junkyard that had a rural feel with tall trees in the background.
The car had no engine, so we had them use a forklift to move it out into the parking lot and position it where we needed it. We framed everything to favor the back of the car, added slow movement on a slider. Then we waited for dusk.
We ran an Aputure 600D and a hazer off an EcoFlow generator, which gave the car this eerie, smoked-out look, like it had just crashed.
For the night work, we kept it simple. Small Aputure lights placed around the car to shape the edges and bring out texture, all battery powered since the car itself was completely dead.
It wasn’t the easiest setup to find, but it ended up being exactly the image I had in mind when I was planning the film.

BTS from one of my favorite shoots this past year. I leaned more into automotive projects over the last few months. And this one combined a few of my favorite things: cars, cameras, and upstate ny. Gino and I rigged up the car with the Ronin 4D, which has been an absolute weapon lately on my shoots. So versatile and fast to operate. We spent the weekend on off-road trails and country roads with the G550 and AMG S-Class with Clint at the helm of the creative.
Shot on:
DJI Ronin 4D @dji_ronin
Thypoch Simera-C 28mm and 50mm @thypoch_official@clint_davis@ginomascardo
Never enough haze.
Spec work with @clintdavis and @ginomascardo in upstate New York.
Finally got to put the @dji_ronin Ronin 4D to work together with the @thypoch_official Simera-C’s. I was begging Clint for a year to sell it to me and we finally got to collaborate on this one. And thank you to our amazing talent @gwendolynjames_ & @insightphil 🙏
Rounding out the @unxracing project with some of my favorite black and white frames from this series. We captured the project over the course of one race weekend and got to experience all the ups and downs of GT3 Sprint Cup racing. We got up close and personal with the drivers and the team. The black and white is so visceral and strips away all the color and chaos and just leaves the emotion of the scene. Feels like slowing down time.
