FLOWER in Brighton. Go see them round the rest of the UK + Ireland this week.
🖤
CONTROL, SUBMISSION, FEAR, SUPPRESSION. NEW ORTHODOX PURE OF THOUGHT AND ACTION.
CHURCHES OF OLD, CHURCHES OF NEW. WHICH UNQUESTIONABLE LIES WILL WE PRAY TO?
IN OUR NEW UTOPIA, WHO WILL YOU BURY?
ARE WE PLANTING THE SEEDS OF A NEW POWER?
FLOWERS STILL GROW IN THE GRAVEYARDS OF TOMORROW.
In the spirit of the season of light and dark being in balance, a raga takes a mode and a handful of chord inversions, and teeters the notes around it's own fulcrum. On bandcamp now. Hope ya had a good equinox.
Recorded from home in surgery recovery January '25; from a swamp amongst the dawn chorus June '23, taken from the Logjam tape; from Stanmer in the rain under a thin tarp facing the wind with Bea in January '26; on a shingle beach in Dunwich in the pitch black with Allie in February '26.
Words from the equinox.
Cover photo taken while sweating it up a river valley in the East Basque Country last October.
Other valleys - snowcapped peaks above a glen in the East Scottish Highlands, taken by Lol, and down the bottom of a forgotten Sussex hanger the other day where I found the world - vine runners, dead trees, coursing stream and all - swallowing a table and chairs.
Since I'm now back living on the road n woods for the forseeable, here's a small EP for ya ahead of the full DHV album which will be out on May 1st for Beltaine.

Cúpla belters, cúpla heartbreakers, these songs are our reworkings of our favourite classics. Many original tunes to come soon.
Boys From The County Hell is a Pogues tune about the Irish diaspora in the 33rd county, London - a circumstance leading them to the logical conclusions of landlord murdering and alcoholism.
The Cuckoo Bird is a very old trad song that has flown through England, Scotland, Ireland, North America, and back again. Combining lyrics from all versions I can find, perspectives coalesce into a timeless resistance song against authority, wayward distractions, industrialism, and capitalism, seeing the beauty in the natural brutality of the cuckoo more than any of these violent exports.
Lone Prairie and Wild Bill Jones are two of my favourite country stories that I have a massive personal attachment to, and it's been lovely seeing several friends get stuck on learning these songs for themselves too.
Thanks @readgodber , @teddy_thyme , @flinneyjcl , & @allie.dams for your contributions to these songs.
All of these will be on the album PELT OF THE DOG out on Beltaine - May 1st.

North London and South Coast coalesce for a ritual of filth at @newriverstudios .
First of two outings for the ephemeral Endocrine (@erin_munn_@log.dog_ , @baldozer ), and an unholy baptism in the capital for @mortalkarcass & @wrenchbtn , alongside some of London's henchest @grandad_noise , @carthagegrind & Meltzer. Also @lizzy_in_a_rizzy_ and some others spinning wax.
Raising money to pay off my surgery debts and to help others start/maintain hormone treatments, two things I would like to see through before I move away for a fair while. Donate +/- £10 through my bio/on the door, or just rock up.

Last gig I'm organising for now, thanks for the support over the years. Transitioning shouldn't be gatekept, especially in a country that's supposed to have universal healthcare, nor should crowdfunding be gatekept by people who have the connections or ability to do things like this. Bad attitudes to and from trans people are almost always influenced by the jaded and traumatised state our social, political, and medical climate hounds us into. Keep playing music for the sake of helping people, there's more to this thing than just getting on with it - for some of us it's the only large scale communities we have, so make it worth something.
Tickets via @hopeandruin /my linktree, or donate what you want OTD. Final Brighton fundraiser before I sod off, still in debt for sake of healthcare. Last time we became The Mummies, everything broke and fell apart and it was hilarious so pls come make this even more daft than the last one.
2 sets of absolute trash from members of The Atom Jacks and The Damn Shebang +1, with Neil Sick and Misty Messer spinning garage-soul-R&B-rock n roll vinyl. Pay what you can or just rock up.
Got nothin on The Watersons but here's The North Country Maid. Though I'm Sussex-Irish blood and raised, sure a girl's got to rove.
I've lived my whole life around a fierce amount of violence in villages, small towns, and cities alike. I don't like what it's done to me as a person. I can't even say one is worse than another, especially these days.
Yet it's clear that the closer the proximity to the bellies of industrial capitalism, and the collective trauma they regurgitate, the more our capacity for love, empathy, and collaboration are obscured and stiffened by spite, fear, and folly violence. To ourselves, our loved ones, strangers, work, infrastructure, nature. It makes the way to a better world feel like a blinded death waltz, with our hope bound by disillusionment from a world bent on separating us from reality.
Tiocfaidh ár lá and all tha.

Finale of @thedamnshebang and the penultimate @theatomjacks blast. Pics by top geez @ajitartist . Hosted by @stay_sick_brighton as ever, propa family affair. Thanks to all the day 1s and all the lovelies from over the years who saw it through. These lads have been with me through much of my time in Brighton, and I owe so much to them. Love em to bits.
As is the elastic nature of bands that are held together by years of muscle memory and familial magnetism, maybe we'll ride again some time, should the moon and stars align. For now, thank ye all.
Gathered under the steadily waxing Frost Moon, for some music inside a pinker moon (for which the poster is now fixed), come raise some money to help Erin and I with our healthcare debts. Sláinte to Freddie for offering to host this for us.
Tickets are pay what you feel, suggested £10 with options for more or less - though the venue is very low capacity so please help us make the most of the evening. Find tickets through my linktree, or if you can't make it but want to support the cause, donations are welcome via PayPal to [email protected].

Blessed to be playing some folk songs of mine and of olde at two very special community events - later today in Brighton for a @francislimb surgery fundraiser, accompanied by @readgodber 🏳️⚧️🏳️⚧️🏳️⚧️ and a solo set in a couple weeks in Ipswich for a @queernoise_ips house show, raising money for this lovely co-op's backline🏴🏴🏴
Restocked a short run of both Live From Future Roots + Logjam tapes - available at both shows. You can also stream/download on my bandcamp.
Any leftovers will go online. After this run I'll probably stop reprinting them as I'm looking to get a DHV record done over this winter and onto whatever casettes I can afford before I move out into a bag next spring for the forseeable future.
Sláinte ya bastards.
