Another post to celebrate the last year of Changing Chalk !
It has been wonderful to be part of a wider network of groups working to restore nature and bring people back to the land.
This project came to an end in January. But we will be continuing to host workdays up on the land.
If you want to help by sharing some of these pretty pictures that would be much appreciated.
Follow the link in our bio to sign up for future volunteer sessions.
Much love.

In May last year we successfully received 9 months of grant funding from the Changing Chalk Partnership - led by the National Trust.
This project came to a close in January and In this time we engaged with 118 volunteers on the site over 29 volunteer days! With our wonderful crew of session leaders sharing all we have learnt about the site.
Thank you so much to everyone who came and volunteered!! You are amazing.
Coldean Commons had been running for a few years before receiving this funding - and we continue to keep going for a few years yet to come! But the recognition and support from Changing Chalk network has been a great boost for our work.
Looking forward to seeing you on the land again soon!

☆NEXT SESSION SATURDAY!☆
1-4pm Coldean Commons, meet at the Varley Park bus stop. Spring has worked her magic which means flowers are coming out but so are the leafy shrubs which outcompete the plants which only live on chalk grassland! All experience levels welcome to help us maintain this precious habitat 🐛🌼🦋
DM for any queries :o) we are called "coldean rewilding area" on Google maps.
*BIOBLITZ CHALLENGE 2026*
All are welcome to come learn about our ecosystem on Saturday 25th April, 1-4pm at our lovely Coldean Commons through this international challenge. We as the Brighton and Eastern Downs area will work as a team to record as many species as possible using the iNaturalist app and compete for the top number in the U.K.
This is a fun and easy way to start learning about the non-human locals we share the land with!
This is a relaxed event where people can come and go as they like but just be aware the site is harder to find hence the bus stop meeting place.
Any queries, please dm us :o)
Pond creation - Pt.1
In January we embarked on our long awaited pond building project.
What started as an ambitious afternoon job evolved into 3 or 4 sessions of loving pond labour.
Thank you too all who came to help.
Ponds are such a vital freshwater ecosystem for reptiles, mammals and amphibians.
We can't wait to watch this new spot brew with biodiversity over the coming years.
Hold tight for future volunteer days.
With love ❤️
