Turning the page - Marin de Saint-Exupéry Rounding out 2025 with a fun project for @fairlightcycles exploring @marinstex decision to stop professional racing. Head over to @fairlightcycles to check out the film or click the link in my bio for the @youtube version. It’s always hard making these short films as there is only so much you can fit into 4 or 5 minutes. Marin is an incredibly deep and thoughtful person who has been a staple bike packing over the last few years, his experience and reasons for stepping back go much further than what we can cover here. His love for the bike transcends racing and even cycling as a lifestyle, he is a true lifer when it comes to the bike and we could all take notes. It was a pleasure to spend a few days with him at home in Switzerland, his hospitality and company made all the better by the beautiful landscape he surrounds himself with.

The third factory that we visited with @brooksengland was Kondo Factory, lined with huge windows soaking the production floor in golden light and a furnace periodically blowing smoke across the whole room, the experience felt pretty dreamlike. The CEO and the owner were on the production line making beautiful steel saucepans, sweating alongside their staff. The whole project was a real privilege to be a part of, getting to nose around old factories photographing skilled workers is always great but doing it on two sides of the globe was truly special.

The second factory I visited with @brooksengland was @tadafusa_knives My favourite part of this factory was the sharpening area which was so busy it felt like a car wash, water spraying around each worker while they honed perfect blades on the knives. I have a chopping knife from this factory that is still as sharp as the day I got it almost a year ago.

Dream assignment from earlier in the year shooting skilled blacksmiths in Japan for @brooksengland to coincide with a saddle collaboration with @bluelug @mizunoblacksmithworks.inc were one of the kind factories to let us come in and see how they work, an experience I won’t be forgetting in a hurry.

@adampalin steadily making his way up towards Arabel Plateau during this years @silkroadmountainrace Just beyond the lakes on the plateau is a junction that became affectionately known as "scratch corner". A junction riders pass multiple times in this section of the route that offers a very nice downhill roll into CP3, after countless loops through rough high altitude terrain and some of the harshest weather on the course, it takes real determination to pass that turn again and again and continue on the route.

@a_mccormack setting his double Everest world record. 17,698m of elevation in 20 hours 58 minutes and 27 seconds. 117 reps of a brutal 17.7% climb in Somerset. Not for the faint hearted.
