*New Print* I am delighted to share the print I made in collaboration with @listengallery The artwork celebrates the power of slowing down and taking time to listen, together. A3 size and riso printed in fluoro pink and brown by @hotpinkpress_ <3 Limited run of 35 £30 each - proceeds go to Listen Gallery Available via the link in my bio, and at the @solidarityscreeningsglasgow fundraiser on the 25th April. We started working on this project at the beginning of this year, and in that time the gallery has been forced to move out from their physical premises. Now more than ever they need support - and purchasing this print will help that! About @listengallery : Listen Gallery C.I.C is an artist-run, non-profit sound arts gallery and communal listening space based in Glasgow. We create spaces for listening through workshops, performances, exhibitions, screenings, and other sound-focused projects. Our aim is to make sound art accessible to everyone and to use listening as a way to create, collaborate, reflect, and grow together. About @oliviajuett : Olivia is an illustrator, printmaker and workshop leader based in Glasgow, mainly working with analogue processes. Much of my work draws attention to fleeting atmospheres and unexpected moments of reflection; driven by observation, I explore how different elements come together to create multi-layered narratives. My work is rooted in research and observations - drawing and looking. ❤️

Dear listeners,
After a short interlude, I feel ready to share a bit about what’s been happening over the past few months.

It’s been really tough. Times of rupture bring so much to the surface, structurally but also personally. I’ve been noticing a lot about how I respond in my body, and how others respond too.

I’ll start with the York Street / Outerspaces situation. There’s a lot about the intention of that organisation that I believe in, but our experience of the reality, especially in terms of care and accountability, was really difficult.

During our time there, we were holding a lot. Partnerships, large events, urgent responsive programming. At the same time, we were dealing with ongoing issues in the building. No heating for long periods, unannounced inspection visits, being treated differently to other tenants, and having our Palestinian flag removed. After we hosted the Liberated Zone and the police showed up, there was a noticeable shift in how we were treated.

I am so grateful for the memories we created there as a community, and for the space Outerspaces made possible. But throughout all of it, it felt like our needs were constantly secondary to the landlord, and we were made to feel disposable within a structure that claims to be an “alternative” for artists.

Then came the eviction and closure, we recieved no practical support from Outer Spaces. After five years of Listen Gallery as a POC founded and run space in Glasgow, we lost not just a venue but a space for marginalised communities, and a whole ecosystem of relationships, projects, and income. We had to cancel a lot, including local and international work we’d been building for years.

In that moment, I cancelled all upcoming programming except two events that had already paid for catering and space. Most people responded with real care and understanding, which I’m so grateful for. But there were also moments that showed me how quickly people can disappear when things become inconvenient.

Next up from the @mentalhealthfoundation  Art of Family Life creative workshops programme! 🔊 Open to anyone based in Glasgow with lived and/ or intergenerational experience of forced displacement/ seeking refugee protection. From April to June, creatives Riah Naief @listengallery , Luna Issa @_lunaissa and Mia Gubbay will be working collaboratively with groups to explore oral history through creative methods.  Listening through Tongues: collective sound workshops exploring language, voice and memory (led by Riah Naief) Listening Through Tongues is a series of three playful, collective sound workshops exploring language and voice, with a focus on the throat as an instrument and the tongue as an extension of memory, identity, and connection.   Through gentle warm-ups, vocal play, call-and-response, and song-making, we will explore where language is held in the body and why it matters to share it through sound. The workshops will invite us to enter the body through listening and then move outward into sounding together, creating a collaborative space for creative exchange.   If we choose to, we will share what we produce as part of an exhibition during Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival 2026.    No previous musical or singing experience is necessary! Limited places available.  📍@gatheringground , Old Basin House, 5 Applecross Street, G4 9SP  📅 Tuesdays 10am - 2pm 21, 28 April, 5 May 🫒 Lunch and travel expenses included. Childcare and interpreter support are available on request.  💌 Please get in touch with Soizig at [email protected] or on 07702 671965

We are gathering to raise funds in support and solidarity with Listen Gallery and would love for everyone to join us, We would not exist without Listen Gallery and the welcoming space that they provided us with for almost a year. We are grateful for the belief and support that Listen have shown this project and the care they have shown to our community. We are honoured to have been a part of Listen, both in their small flat space, where we hosted our first screenings, and as a bright light in the pits of the financial district, where we were welcomed in at less than a moment’s notice, creating a true liberated zone. We hold dear the countless events, cooking sessions, screenings, exhibitions, fundraisers, gigs and moments of intimacy, connection and care we have all shared at Listen. By sheer brute force and stubbornness, Listen has been able to exist as an independent and entirely unfunded space, providing free warm meals, sliding scale events and a community space. Listen has existed out of care and solidarity, in both its organising, curation and scope; always responsive to the people, especially those who are never made welcome within the arts without seeking to make itself profitable or even palatable to the art world. The reality is that Listen has never managed to receive (adequate) funding because it is not a space that will ever be profitable. It is not made for the elite tastemakers but for regular people to break bread and experience art the way it was intended – collectively and personally, all at once. We need to get together now and pour love into Listen. We need to find a space for Listen to live and help make it possible. Please, if you are able to support, give generously. “Listen” has served our ears. Let’s give some love back now <3 Please find the Listen Gallery fundraiser in our bio.

So so excited to share some good news with you habibis! Listen Gallery is part of @gifestival again this year! Kicking off in June, we are busy supporting three super talented artists; #natashathembisoruwona @bexsik @adammcneilll develop experimental audio tours for the Glasgow Necropolis, a site so so so close to my heart. This is our first official outdoor public presentation and it has always been a dream to do this and couldn’t have done it without all the support from the GI team past and present and all the artists for their trust! There’s an amazing programme of things happening in and out of the festival during this time and we all deserve to come together, to support and celebrate each other across the city and Scotland, espc after some seriously challenging times for our sector. I am rooting for anyone doing cultural work no matter how big or small and so grateful to have a project like this to give me something to look forward to! Thank you to all our ancestors and those of the site, who will guide us on this project 💞

Some pictures of last week's show at @listengallery with Yan Jun and Sue Tompkins, courtesy of Matthew Arthur Williams. Thanks so much to everyone for coming, and for Listen Gallery's wonderful hosting 💞 The event was the last to take place at Listen Gallery. There's a fundraiser on their page just now to help them get the financial backing to secure a new spot. Please support them if you can! It's now one month away until Counterflows Festival kicks off! We can't wait to welcome you all soon. There's still a few tickets available for the opening night and our clubnights if you want to join us. Wishing you all a great March. See you all soon!

Dear listeners, a small update from a very sore body and soul! :( I am also heavily medicated on sedatives so my words are escaping me. It’s been crazy as you know, from our last event to literally pushing so hard to get everything packed up. Alongside chasing estate agents, landlords, Glasgow city council - for a new home - nothing has come back… I am so desperate NOT to put our stuff into storage. Outerspaces has only provided a space in East Kilbride. Please don’t let us take it there. ANY leads on vacant spaces in Glasgow please let us know. There’s been so many kind messages and I am so sorry I can’t get back to you all. My nervous system is completely out of whack but I have seen them all and they are keeping me going 100% …as you know Listen is NOT funded, I am doing this all unpaid so THANK YOU to everyone who’s sent financial aid, this will pay for a removal company as I am literally unable to lift anything else anymore. Thank you Suny who’s helped yesterday and today. Some very kind folk have created a fundraiser, the link is in the bio. I am trying to hold on to all the supportive listeners out there sending their love but the silence of some is deafening. Please if you are in the arts / music / collective / feminist community, please don’t ignore this, please come through and share and help and spread the solidarity, share the fundraiser, chip in, anything! If you are richer and more resourced than us and can’t have our back in times of need then wtf is this? The world is also on fire and it seems crazy to even not have the ability to know what’s happening cos I’m so trapped in the labour of this move within such a tight time frame. That’s all I’ve got to say for now. Praying for change!
