Tomorrow is the big day! Community Connectors are hard at work preparing for events across #Philadelphia on Community Action Day. Join us for some fun and to connect with a variety of agencies across 5 locations, including: 👨‍🎓 @templeuniv ’s Gateway Center will be at Fairhill Square and in Strawberry Mansion to help to enroll residents in certification-based trainings and offer additional resources and services. 🏀 @phillyyouthbasketball will be in Fairhill and West Philadelphia, and 📑 @mightywriters will be represented in West Philly. Both organizations are helping more families get connected to their youth programs. 💼 @fabyouthphilly will be in Fairhill helping to process work permits for youth and making connections to other resources. 🎉 Big thanks to @citizensbank and @tdbank_us for supporting these events and helping us out in Strawberry Mansion and West Philadelphia!

Yesterday, our LISC Philadelphia team volunteered with @caringforfriendsorg in recognition of National Volunteer Week. Together, our team prepared nearly 500 sandwiches, contributing to the 3,200 meals that are served weekly across the city to individuals experiencing homelessness. Founded on a simple but powerful idea, neighbors helping neighbors, Caring for Friends has spent decades addressing food insecurity and isolation, delivering not just meals, but connection and care to community members who need it the most. #LISCPhilly #NationalVolunteerWeek #LISC #CaringforFriends

LISC Philadelphia celebrates Black History Month and the lasting contributions that make our communities stronger.

Today, as we honor Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy of service, justice, and beloved community, we are reminded by his words that “everybody can be great, because everybody can serve!” In that spirit, we’re launching our MLK Day of Service Drive in support of the @theecofoundation Young BUL (Bold, Unstoppable Leaders) program, which empowers youth and families in West Philadelphia. @apmforeveryone is a multiservice nonprofit organization based in Eastern North Philadelphia, which has partnered with LISC to advance local affordable housing and community development since 1989.
