This week on May 26th, we presented artist and filmmaker @Badyminck , who showcased her singular vision of surrealistic stop-motion cinema with La Belle est la Bête (The Beauty is the Beast), The Man with Modern Nerves (co-directed by Stefan Stratil), and Mécanomagie.🪨🪲 The evening offered an intimate look at her process, featuring her storyboards, drawings, and trailers. A film-inspired buffet playfully extended the world of her work beyond the screen. Thanks to all who joined us for this immersive night! The evening, hosted by Julia Harrauer & Lisa Yang, is part of “Mirror, Pixel & Stars”, a Video/Film and Performance Program by Splitart Projects, curated by Michalis Argyrou and Georg Georgakopoulos. This special evening will feature a curated selection of Minck’s visionary stop motion short films, drawings and storyboards offering a unique opportunity to explore her engagement with surrealism, cinema, and visual art. An assortment of small dishes, thoughtfully inspired by the presented films, will accompany the evening. We look forward to welcoming you! Her practice crosses disciplines, spanning sculpture, animation, literature, poetry, politics and philosophy. She studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts and experimental film at the University of Applied Arts, both in Vienna. As the founder and producer of Amour Fou Luxembourg and Vienna, she actively supports the work of other filmmakers. Minck’s work is shown in major international collections and showcased in retrospectives, museums, and biennials around the world. Her award-winning films, such as The Man with modern nerves, Mécanomagie, and In the Beginning Was the Eye, have been invited to over 600 international film festivals, including Cannes, the Berlinale, Venice, Locarno, and Sundance Film Festival. Most recently, her film La Belle est la Bête was featured in the exhibition The Traumatic Surreal at the Henry Moore Institute in UK, alongside Meret Oppenheim, Pipilotti Rist, and other pioneering women in feminist and surrealist art.
