The past 2 months have been an absolute whirlwind! Anyone who is close to our family knows that Greg and I are always working on a personal house project (outside of his professional ones) ALWAYS. We can’t stop ourselves! This time we almost lost our minds with an insane deadline to renovate this one in 8 weeks, with only 2 (but amazing crew, shout out Felipe and Eron! ⭐️) some exterior painters on the last day (because I broke into tears when I thought Greg or I would have to paint the outside too😱) & some help from the girls, Sierra sewing pillows and Skye gardening🩷 It was total chaos but AHHHHH we’re proud of this little gem! There’s a magic and gravitas she lends to her work that takes the transportive nature of a story. Her performances are immersive, emotional, and breathes life into prose in a way I never dreamed of ever hearing from my own work. In a world where so many creative endeavors are falling to the use of AI, there is something special about a human performance—the emotional nuance and SO much more—that a machine cannot recreate. Meet the Star of INTO THE WILDERNESS: Lisa Roumain @lisaroumain stars as Reba Williams, a helicopter mom pushed beyond her limits when contact with her daughter is lost, and a mother’s intuition becomes too strong to ignore. Lisa has been in numerous hit movies and TV series including Avatar, Westworld, Greys Anatomy & Yellowstone, to name only a few. She has lent her talents to numerous award winning short films and indie features, and most recently has become a go-to voice actor for audio book recording. Lisa is an absolute champion, not only embodying the character of Reba with more love, tenderness, and grit than I could have ever imagined, but for being such a cheerleader and a trooper each and every day of our shoot. What other lead actress provides donuts for the rest of the cast and crew, deep in the woods, on our last day? Lisa does, that’s who!! There was really never any doubt once we saw her audition who needed to play this role. As a wife and mother, Lisa seemed to innately understand the inner crisis Reba felt when her gut instincts ruin an otherwise kid-free weekend at the house, and she brought such heart and humanity to a woman just striving to do what she thinks is best for her family, at all costs. There was definitely the possibility that this character could come off as overwrought, unlikable, and potentially a problem within the entire story, but never with Lisa in the role. Her unmistakeable talent, her willingness to go deep inside the character, and her lovely attitude on set made her an absolute dream to work with. I cannot wait to share Lisa’s hard work and talent with the world, as it is undeniable. This epic project was born inside of my husband @greguberion ‘s brain. I can’t believe it sometimes, but also, not surprised at all. The crazy things he dreams up, he somehow figures out how to make them real. And it has never been easy to do. I’ve never met anyone who works so tirelessly to push his own limits, to expand what is possible, to dream bigger. And he does it with integrity, humility, joy, care, and unparalleled passion. It has been the most fascinating journey to watch the seeds of his incredible ideas bloom and become real life spaces that make you gasp in absolute AWE. It’s hard to wrap your mind around.
