MacGuffin Nº 15 The Stitch includes part of an impressive study by @linearngaard and @rositakaer on ‘The Bog Pattern’ – a garment construction method preserved for thousands of years on the bodies of their original wearers, lying under burial mounds in Denmark. The pattern transforms a single piece of fabric into a timeless, T-shaped blouse with just two seams, and was a source of fashion inspiration, from Balenciaga to Issey Miyake.
Equally captivating: Line’s publication on working in fragments - ‘Piecing Pages’, which also includes articles by The Stitch contributors @hankavdvoet , Joke Robaard and @rositakaer . The beautifully designed book unravels how a traditional women’s craft technique – assembling scraps – informs the fragmented working methods of designers, artists and writers today. Available through @jessepresse , @ideabooksnl and @san.serriffe

One month ago, my book ‘Piecing Pages: On working in fragments’ was finally launched @san.serriffe in Amsterdam, in a room more full of people and support than I could have ever dreamed of.
And this weekend is the last chance to see the launch display at San Serriffe which includes a selection of projects, artworks and research material relating to the book.
A big thanks to Pieter, Cathy, Kimberley, Hanka and Till for all the help with the launch 💌
It’s finally here: ‘Piecing Pages: On working in fragments’ a book project I have been pouring my heart into editing, designing and publishing for the past three years.
Please join for the book launch at San Serriffe (Sint Annenstraat 30, Amsterdam) on September 25, 6pm. At 6.30 there will be a small presentation of both the book and a selection of projects, artworks and research material exhibited in the space. During the launch Sumin Lee and Kimberley Cosmilla will be serving homemade drinks and bites.
“Piecing Pages is a (visual) reader which collects the work of fifteen artists, writers and designers across twelve contributions. Each contribution offers insights into a practice or research project that in some way embodies the notion of working in fragments. Together, these contributions unravel how a traditional women’s craft technique – assembling scraps – continues to influence and inform the fragmented working methods of designers, artists and writers today.”
With contributions by Asefeh Tayebani, Hanka van der Voet, Jess Bailey and Sharbreon Plummer, Joke Robaard, Linda van Deursen, Lucy R. Lippard, Melissa Meyer and Miriam Schapiro, Rietlanden Women’s Office, Ronja Andersen, Rosita Kær, Susu Lee, Youngeun Sohn.
The book is available via @jessepresse and @san.serriffe
Greetings from @statensvaerksteder where l have been textile printing for the past weeks. These textiles are part of a book project titled ‘Piecing Pages’ which I have been working on for a year as part of the @stimuleringsfonds talent development programme. More soon (I hope) 🥀
After a long Instagram silence I thought it might be prudent to start the year with a banger!
I’m so happy to share that ‘Handle/Collecting Alibis’ Amie Dicke’s two volume monograph is out now.
Lots of time, energy and heart has gone into both editing and designing this book (or perhaps I should say books)
The book will be launched at the end of February at @eenwerk_gallery in Amsterdam, but if you can’t wait the book can already be found at @buchhandlungwaltherfranzkoenig bookshops around the world.
Thank you, @amiedicke , for trusting me with this project.
lithography by @marcgijzen , letter & poem by @mariekelucasrijneveld , interview by Amelia Groom, project coordination by @annelakeman
