Sometimes the plan comes together and it all works like magic. Every detail of this piece down to how the characters sat around the car was motivated by my memories of post directing lecture trips to Steers, this is a sneaky ode to that time in my life, having a burger on broadway before binging Stranger Things. Can’t believe I’m saying this but… Lindo Langa for @cokestudioafrica and @ayrastarr This is such a dream come true❤️ what a blessing it is to imagine something in your kitchen and then seeing it out in the world 6 months later. I bring my ideas to life by editing together the storyboards. I do this step myself so I know what I’m getting into and it’s absolutely changed the game for me. The reason behind this dope ad is one. Trevor Noah “Welcome to South Africa”, directed by the talented maestro: @lindo_langa Seriti Films was entrusted with the task to re-introduce South Africa to the world, alongside our agency partner Fastgro. This commercial showcases not only our beautiful country, but also was made by some of SA’s best creative collaborators. Lindo Langa directed the piece, as a growing young talent who continues to prove himself. Seriti also partnered with Mpho Twala as an executive producer. Given the scope and intensity of the work, Mpho worked alongside, Leanne Kumalo and Thabang Moleya, this collaboration made the impossible – possible. Nina Hastie, joined the team as Creative Director, wrote the TVC, her special talent and understanding of SA humour made for a special chemistry that underpinned this collaboration of minds. The commercial has been celebrated by South Africans all over the globe since its release, as we proudly let the world know that our country is a world class travel destination of choice, that’s open for travel. Metropolitan directors cut I’m so excited about how this one came out!! I wanted to tell a story with a sense of visual poetry that highlighted connection over different worlds. We were heavily inspired by Chris Nolan’s use of cross cutting and so we imbued the film with that signature but made it our own through how we decided to move around and maintain the narrative. The choice to go 4:3 was made to invoke the theme of time, we wanted to lock these characters in a portrait styled frame that maximises faces and emotion over cool camera stuff.
