In two days, I will turn 38. This past year has been successful, both in my professional career and in my creative journey. What is relevant is that those happenings magically pushed me into a rapid expansion in multiple directions. And when you expand that quickly, you find yourself wrong-sized for things that once fit perfectly. It feels a bit like Alice in Wonderland — that kind of magic is always awkward. So I enter this new year with many questions. They keep me awake at times, they bring a fair amount of heartache. But there is also a certain focus that I keep catching — like the image of a moon crater flickering in a telescope’s eyepiece, jumping, pulsating: there, I almost have it. What I found out is that I don’t want to be part of the resilience myth. I just want to be allowed to love. To be among people and with people. And it seems that what war does is take this away from you: not the ability, but the permission, the trust to love, to fall, and fall… and fall. I don’t think pre-war innocence is recoverable in its original form. But there is something else we can have. Maybe something even harder, and more beautiful, than innocence. It is the choice to love, knowing what we know. To be foolish, affectionate, open to others — not because we don’t understand the cost, but because we do, and we choose it anyway. That is my moon crater for year 38. The video I’m posting here is my visualization of that hum and that longing. It is also my homework for the @limprogramme workshop. I’m sharing it here not without discomfort at the exposure, but not entirely without satisfaction either. And if you feel like dropping me a line on April 22, I would be really glad to connect. — Thank you for doing the edit @ylshmtt

Carrying on with this weeks theme of Screenwriters development, we are recapping the Final Pitch event from the selected writers of the Space Lab Writers Development program, we collaborated on with @ffilmcymruwales and @limprogramme Those in the project got the opportunity to go on a writers retreat in the Gower for a week, have access to mentorship to develop their script ideas over the year and then pitch to commissioners and indie production companies, with real opportunity for script realisation!! CCW focuses on supporting and developing aspiring global majority filmmakers, writers and more in Wales. Breaking barriers and making way into an industry not historically catered to these demographics. If you or anyone you know fits into these demographics make sure you are following us, signed up to our newsletter and reach out for support! #cultureconnectwales #development #writersretreat #tvpitch #wales

I am still arriving from @limprogramme — still on that airplane, I guess. The amount of psychological and physical safety was almost unbearable for someone who has just entered the fifth year of constant war. To be in a situation where you don’t have to worry about a thing, not even the usual practicalities of life — and moreover, where others are actively doing things for you. Thinking about your story, collecting treasures for your narrative, fueling your fire. Making me feel seen, and reminding me how life can be when there is space for creativity, when it’s not only a constant fight. Even if it’s a fight for the things I hold most dear. And the people I met there. I never expected it to be like that. I fell in love. I wish more Ukrainian projects could have this experience, and I am forever grateful to the LIM2 team for choosing our project with @anna_buryachkova . While it’s still fresh and feels appropriate, I am leaving here a short homage to Ada’s Limon poem — like a little crumpled suitcase left in airport’s lost and found, until then. What I Didn’t Know Before was that sloths can hold their breath longer than dolphins. They slow their heart rate and simply stop breathing, while psychedelic dolphins leap around, delirious and horny, as if anyone cared. That’s how I’ll wait to meet you again. All of you, coming off long journeys, from wherever you happen to be by June. Carrying backpacks, lightened by beach towels and swimsuits, swinging your notebooks, heavy with great ideas, in front of my silly face. We’ll say “boooonjour!” to each other and break into laughter. And then the sloth will breathe in, having forgotten why it was holding its breath in the first place, ready at last to join the dolphins.

Last week with @limprogramme felt like I was in heaven. Or constantly high on the creative process. Guided by our dancing partners @ilsignorm , @nolguiz , and @wordrain - we all felt like children in a playful mood, full of curiosity and vitality. We were wanderers, archetypes, and sense scientists, but also gardeners of growing stories, blooming with words, poetry, and meaning. Most importantly, we were fearless storytellers in every sense of the word. I truly can’t say much—my heart is full with gratitude for all of you: both those who led and the group of writers-directors that became a family for six days on the Legend Bay. Looking forward to seeing you all again in June and September!

Brittany. A welcome return to research and learning of how writers can liberate their work. A multitude of serendipity in the tidal shores abundant with oysters and new friends. The further welcome moments of excitable play when a group of storytellers break into a warehouse full of junk. Pure treasure and imagination. Thanks @limprogramme @legroupeouest as ever for being a progressive force of curiousity x
