"You don't have to go anywhere... You don't have to do anything..."

Last June, I won the Bio Art & Design Award (
@bad__award ) with my amazing team: Emilia Tapprest (
@nvisible.studio ), Samar Nasrullah Khan (
@spokentwice ), and Sophie Mars (
@sophiemars_ ), as part of Liminal Vision (
@liminal.vision ).
Being part of this project was like plant medicine, an experience more powerful than therapy. Crafting the character and story Raf, inspired by my personal challenges and life lessons, became a direct exercise in place-holding - one of my most important themes in life as a neurodivergent adoptee. Through the futurist gardening workshop at Shadow Garden Amsterdam (
@shadow_garden_amsterdam ) and the subsequent filming days, I learned to surrender to being carried, like a seed by a cow, in my search for a place to root and flourish in the world. What it took was to shapeshift into a cow and genuinely ask plants for their name.
