May is Mental Health Awareness Month and truth be told I didn’t know that when I applied for our yard sale permit with the city, so I look back and see that as a confirmation that all this work is gonna be for a divine purpose and that God will reach the brokenhearted through this outreach. 💚
Last weekend, as most were shopping for their moms for Mother’s Day, I was collecting heartfelt donations all over the metroplex and it was SO GOOD. I could just feel in my spirit Jesse looking down from Heaven, smiling big, and asking me, “Mom, what have you gotten yourself into?” 😂 my response, “I know, right!”

God placed so many talents in our son, Jesse. I look at these videos of him from child thru teen years and still can’t believe we’re living life without him. His talents are not gone, they’re still very much a part of him just now in a spiritual form. This scholarship is yet ANOTHER way God will use the broken pieces in the hearts of his family & friends, teachers & mentors, for “every good and perfect gift is from above.” -James 1:17

A scholarship created in our son’s name ⭐️
When Miss Lewisville Laurel Jones approached me with this opportunity my eyes welled up. Initially it was because I was hearing his name spoken over and over. Someone was thinking of him and talking about him. Then, as I paid closer attention to her words I realized how full circle this was. Jesse was only a high school freshman when he chose to leave his pain. When asked what he wanted to do when he grew up music was always on the table. Being in a band, maybe even being a studio musician. We never got the chance to see where that brilliant musical brain was going to take him yet, through the Miss Texas Scholarship Program we can pay that forward and give another young mind that opportunity to shine in their god-given musical talent.

Today is the day we all #stayforlunch and eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in remembrance of Jesse. He packed his lunch on Wednesday February 20, 2019 but didn’t stay to eat it.

We came to stand in agreement with so many other teams who registered for the Tyler Walk benefitting @afspntx . We came to be a part of greater awareness and say that suicide is 100% preventable. We came to let our voices be heard. Our hearts may be broken but we will never stop being a light in the darkness. Limelights has expanded its reach and I pray it never stops. We cannot get those we’ve lost back but we can reach those who are still here. We can extend our hand to them. Many thanks to all of you who took this stand with us with your presence and donations.
