This Mother's Day, we remember Rosie Jiménez. A young Chicana mother, a college student, a dreamer from McAllen, Texas. In 1977, she died from an unsafe abortion because Medicaid wouldn't cover her care. She is the first person we know of who died because of the Hyde Amendment. Her name belongs on this bill. Rosie's Law would require all Texas insurance plans to fully cover abortion, contraception, and reproductive health care, with no copays, no deductibles, and no barriers.
