This Mother's Day, we remember Rosie Jiménez. A young Chicana mother, a college student, a dreamer from McAllen, Texas. In 1977, she died from an unsafe abortion because Medicaid wouldn't cover her care. She is the first person we know of who died because of the Hyde Amendment.
Her name belongs on this bill.
Rosie's Law would require all Texas insurance plans to fully cover abortion, contraception, and reproductive health care, with no copays, no deductibles, and no barriers. Even under Texas' current abortion bans, this law would expand contraceptive coverage for every Texan with insurance right now.

Denton: Time To Host Your Own Rosie’s Law Advocacy Meeting
As a constituent, you can lead advocacy meetings with your legislators on issues that matter most to you. Join us for a webinar led by our Rosie’s Law Coalition to learn how YOU can meet with your state Representative or Senator to advocate for abortion access and the pro-abortion bill called Rosie’s Law.
Rosie’s Law is a state policy that we advocate for every session to expand insurance coverage of abortion and contraceptive care for Texans.

Join Texas Equal Access Fund, UNT Eagle Engagement Center, and PRIDENTON for our annual community sidewalk chalking event for the whole family to celebrate Pride! We’ll start at 8 am and chalk on the sidewalk around the Denton Courthouse Square. Meet us on the Hickory St. side to grab the chalk, and connect with us.
Local band, @yofishboy , will be there to supply some live tunes and a local face painter will be providing free designs!
Don’t forget to bring a hat, sunscreen, and water. We will have limited water and snacks.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Accessibility: There are ramps on the sidewalks where there is accessible parking and ramps are also on all four corners and streets of the Square.
Parking: Free parking is available along the Square with a parking lot behind the Wells Fargo building. More options are at dentonmainstreet.org/pages/parking.
Restrooms: Businesses around the Square are graciously allowing event attendees to use their restrooms that are all-use. We will share the list of available restrooms closer to the event. You can also ask a volunteer for guidance the day of the event.
