Meet the routesetters behind Youth States. Over the next few days we’re introducing the routesetters building the blocs for the 2026 NSW State Youth Boulder Titles at @sydneyindoorclimbinggym We’re excited to have such a strong team bringing creativity and experience to the wall this year. Next up is Lily Watkins (she/her) @lil.sets from 9 Degrees Chatswood. Lily has been setting for around 3 years and says what she loves most about routesetting is “the hands-on creativity! The people, the community, the challenge… all of it.” While this will be her first Youth Boulder State competition, she has previously set State level lead and boulder competitions. Meet Our Setters! We’re stoked to have this talented crew shaping the routes for the 2025 NSW State Open Lead and Para Climbing Titles. They’re bringing creativity, challenge, and plenty of good vibes to the walls. @sydneyindoorclimbinggym Next up, meet Lily Watkins. @lil.sets Lily Watkins (she/her) Home Gym: Climb Fit Macquarie @climbfit_macquarie Years Setting: 2–3 Disciplines: Lead & Boulder Lily brings a creative spark and a big dose of team energy to the wall. She loves setting both lead and boulder — especially the shared psych and movement magic that comes with the process. Her goal for this comp? To create something she’s proud of: a route that’s fresh, exciting, and makes climbers power scream and commit. While she’s competed before, Lily prefers being behind the scenes, making the magic happen. She’s already contributed to setting at NSW State Youth Lead and VIC Open Boulder, and she’s always up for trying something she hasn’t set before. Her favourite styles to set are techy and powerful — the kind that force decisions and demand real effort. Earlier this year, Lily also took part in our NSW Para Climbing Routesetting Workshop, gaining hands-on experience and insights she’s keen to bring to this event. She’s passionate about where para climbing is heading and is excited by the momentum building across the Oceania scene. Fun fact: Lily credits her setting psych to her crew — Cody, Ben, Will, Steve, and Harry — who keep her inspired and pushing forward. 2025 NSW Youth State Lead Titles - the Routesetters Meet Lily (she/her) – @lil.sets The routesetting team for the 2025 NSW Youth State Lead Titles is gearing up, and we’re excited to introduce them before they hit the walls! First up is Lily, a member of the Climbfit Macquarie setting team. Lily thrives in that moment when a complex sequence falls into place. "I love that psych moment when a complex sequence clicks during testing," she says. While she’s discovered that competing isn’t her passion, Lily is driven by the challenge of setting routes that push climbers in a rewarding way. This will be Lily's first time setting at a State Lead Titles, and she’s eager to work alongside some of the most influential setters she’s met. Her goal? For competitors to leave feeling both challenged and satisfied with their performance. “I hope the competitors come down, enjoying what they’ve just climbed, and feel accomplished knowing they gave their all.” This event is hosted by Elevate Climbing, with support from our amazing sponsors: Happy Biner, SCARPA, and Mountain Equipment.
