Came out of hibernation last new year's for Twisted Frequency, this one in particular was for the books as we performed through the mother of all storms on NY. The pictures capture the "blobbing" of the shade sail, which in-person was a violent kinetic sculpture that gave dynamics to the lasers I hadn't seen before. It was a new experience to coordinate this one from overseas, and I couldn't of delivered this without my amazing team Marc, Jed and Jacob. Highlights included sharing some great looks with the visual masters Delta Process @deltaprocess.it , booth shenanigans with Tub's Audio, and a final slamming visual set with Visor @jackvpurvis . Wētā stage incorporated six lasers rigged in ferns and one mapping laser for abstract looks, controlled thru @pangolinlasersystems Beyond Ultimate. The stage design by Luka and Hamish was perfect for the conditions this year, endlessly fun to play with. Marc laser mapped the Beat Batch stage, with on-point reactive light textures that matched VJ content perfectly using touchdesigner and madmapper – photos to come. I'm caught between really wanting to be a part of these events but also conflicted to what the point is beyond stoking my ego and defining my self worth on how many shows I get. So working through this, Twisted is an important part of honing my creative process through doing something that feels unique. This time around I felt closer to defining what I want to achieve with my creative practice and this is amplified by working alongside amazing people. Thank you for your support.

Now winding down after a busy summer I'm happy to share some amazing captures of this year's Twisted Frequency and the laser shenanigans instigated by the Lightcraft team. It was the 10 year anniversary and I think the festival has never looked better on all fronts. Shout out to the hardworking leadership and crew that makes this happen. We installed a total of 9 lasers throughout the site to operate over four nights: six on the Pouākai (Haast's Eagle) stage, two on diamond mapping duties on the Beat Batch, and one site laser scrawling sigils on the mountain side. On the third night we were blessed with heavy fog that was perfect for the Eye of Twisted Thank you @meltingspace for go-to setup and packdown assistance @marc_gluyas for smashing out laser mapping @nz.jedi for eagle stage operation 2ic Special shout out to @remvisualart and @optiphonic for the incredible video mapping job on the eagle. It was next level, and has triggered many ideas in my head for lighting and laser integration with video. Stage build team led by Cam and @lg___carpentry , driftwood sculpture by @rabidfoam . Rigging team led by @_harrison.skye_ , special thanks to @tylerrrobb for height work assist And @ants.ant Doppler electric and his hard working team that make sure the whole festival is beautiful and safe at night. Preparing for this new year's show at @twistedfrequencyfestival , and the growing excitement for what will be strongest visuals team yet (pic 2) has gotten me reflecting a lot on this past year of many shows and generally my journey as an artist in general First I think this photo, amazingly shot by @jhnz.images , captures what I see in the lasers. I'm not always sure how people interpret what I do and if they consider it art or not, but what I see is infinitely unfolding dimensions within the interaction of these beams of incredibly fast moving lights. Information transmitted by modulation. I like to think that the invisible frequencies all around us look something like this. These networks connect us in ways that were not possible for most of our existence on earth. Now, they sculpt the very fabric of society, the transfer of knowledge. They can carry data of exploitation, ignorance and war straight to our phones. But community and understanding is also carried in these smoke signals. The world of radiation is so much more complex, dangerous and beautiful than I ever imagined. I think using it for art is a step in the right direction. Anyway, I feel really honored to be included in this list of incredible artists at the top of their game. Go follow them! I'm extremely proud and humbled to release these photos of Twisted Frequency 2023-24 Kōura Stage, taken by talented photographers @soul_of_visuals and @marinavalle.art . I'm posting these in recognition of crossing a milestone for this project, the release of my website . Thank you @goothbug for your help with the website and logo design. The stages at this festival are a monument to the creative skill of the underground culture of Aotearoa, which thrives despite the harsh funding conditions of our creative landscape. Thank you @twistedfrequencyfestival for supporting me from day 1 to realise my dreams. I can't wait to come back to the valley with a bigger vision and of course more lasers. This was my most ambitious installation to date and the result speaks for itself - a stage that is the symbiote of structure (@lg___carpentry ) , sculpture (@rabidfoam ), video mapping (@optiphonic ) , sound engineering (@tubsaudio ) , sound curation (@wookwright wrangling the best djs in australasia), sail rigging (@_harrison.skye_ ) , and laser design ( with the crucial support of @marc_gluyas , @nz.jedi , and my love @uvuila ). And of course the small army of the Twisted crew that delivers this mad event every year. Laser, diffraction mirror and led tube install for the talented @flatmate__ all night vinyl set at @b.space.club the other month. A night that will stay with me for a while, impeccable selection and mixing, with a blissful dance floor right to close at 4am. Had a great time matching lighting looks with @alice_hoogerbrug . We will be back in bspace Friday 11 October with @tgf.nz Reflected lasers measured and monitored to be at or below 1mW all night for 100% eye safety, thanks to @kvantlasers mirrors and Beambrush. The other week some close friends and I put on a gig under our @sigil.sound collective. This was a really special one and I'm really happy with how it turned out.
