For
@voguemagazine ’s April issue, I trailed Doja Cat on tour in Australia for a few days, tagging along for vocal and dance lessons, styling sessions, pre-show shots of whisky, and a shopping spree at a beauty store. We spoke about fame, therapy, fashion, her health, and her complicated relationship with her fans. (And just when I was ready to collapse and die from jetlag, I watched her perform to a sold-out arena while down with a cold and tear it up… and then do it again the following night.)
After spending some time in Doja’s world, and talking more with her and her friends over the past few months, I learned a lot about what a unique, subversive, uncompromising artist she really is. I hope anyone who reads the story ends up as fascinated by her as I am. I also love these photos by
