My next short film Hostile Architecture, a sexy trans romance horror film, is shooting in January 2026. Our crowdfunder is live, link in my bio! Since releasing Terratoma I’ve met so many wonderful trans people who are interested in seeing more complicated and dark trans films so I’m really excited to add Hostile Architecture to that genre! We’ve been working on this film for the better part of two years and I’m really excited to finally go into production with so many talented people. Follow me for more more updates on our cast and crew and head to the crowdfunder link in my bio to learn more about the film!

Last month we wrapped shooting on HOSTILE ARCHITECTURE! Biggest thanks to all the cast and crew who brought their time, creativity and energy to the production. It was truly a joy getting to work with all of you. We shot something truly special and I’m delighted to share just some of that in these set photos. We’re already deep in the edit and can’t wait to finish post-production over the coming months. Looking forward to sharing more BTS and stills in the near future, and hopefully a premiere date later this year! Introducing the crew working on HOSTILE ARCHITECTURE! I feel incredibly lucky to work with such talented and creative people on this shoot! This film has brought together people from so many different avenues — past collaborators, new friends, people I’ve always wanted to work with, and exciting new talent I’ve discovered through the @nationaltalentacademies Queer Talent Ireland database. Pre-production with this crew has been such a pleasure and I’m so thrilled with the unified vision we’re finding. For such an intimate story about trans romance, I’m really happy that we’ve been able to bring on so many queer and trans crew members! Thank you everyone who’s donated for your help getting this LGBT talent paid 💸 Director/Editor - @liad.roche Writer/Editor - @townmice Producer - @ois.odonoghue Producer - @desmorelda Assistant Director - @elsa_loves_broccoli Intimacy Coordinator - @sinead_cassidy_holt Cinematographer - @albafernandezdp Gaffer - @ashleycasey.mov 1st AC - @gingerjaysus 2nd AC - @elena_bridgeman Production Designer - @highramhorror Production Design Assistant - @sashafzh Costume Designer - @lexistent1al Hair & Makeup - @underbooob Sound Recordist - @yellow_danilo Sound Editor - @em_makes_noise Composer - @murkyanyango

Thanks to everyone who has supported HOSTILE ARCHITECTURE over the past couple of months! To everyone who partied with us in Smock Alley, watched movies in Outhouse, donated to us online and reached out with kindness and support: thank you. It’s been a real whirlwind and we’ve had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful people excited about our work and trans film in general! Quite a few people have told me they’ve been inspired to crowdfund their film after seeing our success and that truly is the best thing to come from this! More trans art! More weird film! More life! Since surpassing our initial fundraising target of €3500 we’ve been able to increase our budget for locations, equipment, production design and more, and we’re so grateful. Maybe we can even afford that “vat of lube” our production designer is asking after. As you can see in the photos we’re well into rehearsals, location scouting and more, so we’ll be closing our online fundraiser next week to focus on pre-production. If you want to financially support the film, get in now! Any additional funds we receive until then will just make the film even better. I never could have imagined the amount of support we’ve garnered and honestly this will stick with me for as long as I make films! Thank you for believing in us - Lia x PHOTOS: 1 - Location scouting 2 - Fundraiser in Smock Alley Theatre 3 - First rehearsal with @liath.hannon and @peteyparty_ 4 - Fundraiser in Smock Alley Theatre 5 - Location scouting with @townmice @highramhorror and @albafernandezdp 6 - Fundraiser in Outhouse 7 - Location scouting 8 - Fundraiser in Outhouse Q&A with @townmice 9 - Location scouting with @townmice @highramhorror and @albafernandezdp 10 - Celebrating! 🎉

Our fundraiser has now reached its initial goal of €3500 and we could not be more grateful. To have such a large part of Hostile Architecture’s budget covered by the support of our communities — queer, trans, artists, cinema lovers — is incredibly moving and vindicating. James and I decided to make this film independently because we knew in our hearts that a freaky sexy trans film in the housing crisis might not look like a safe bet to funding bodies, but it’s not for them, it’s for us. We put ourselves out there hoping that both friends and strangers would understand on a gut level what makes this film so special and exciting, and you all said, ‘damn yeah I wanna see that’. We had hoped to hit our goal by early December(!) so the fundraiser will stay live until then as planned, any further donations going towards improving our rates for cast and crew and increasing the budget for production design, catering and distribution. Our fundraiser screening is also coming up on December 5th in Outhouse! Fundraiser screening and crowdfund links in bio! Lia, James & the HA team ❤️

HOSTILE ARCHITECTURE is a romance horror, but what does that horror look like? Following two people who feel like they have no future in Dublin’s housing crisis, Hostile Architecture is brimming with dread, anxiety, and the overwhelming feeling that if nothing changes soon, something terrible is going to happen to us. For Halloween, we’ve put together some of the horror films that inspire the look, texture and atmosphere of our film. UNDER THE SKIN This film has been a point of reference for everything from the cinematography to the sound design of Hostile Architecture. When designing our extra-dimensional room we just keep coming back to the look and the feel of the void space, which feels both full of endless potential and incredibly threatening. GANJA & HESS A vampire film with some of the most ecstatic sex scenes! The way the film captures bodies in motion is beautiful and melancholic. I get something different from this on every watch - it’s rich and dense and politically charged and horny and anxiety-inducing. SKINAMARINK Skinamarink plays with the dread contained in the places we live, its swarming digital noise making you feel like the house is alive and moving. Hostile Architecture explores the dread of a city that wants to erase you — what if the place you felt safest turns against you? WE’RE ALL GOING TO THE WORLD’S FAIR “I swear, someday soon, I am just gonna disappear, and you won’t have any idea what happened to me.” Support the film at the link in my bio! 🕳
