"I can't wait to grow old with you" 🥹 @lexicalentry @transzforma [Visual description: A couple sits on a vintage couch with floral wallpaper. Zad sits on the left. He is a Black trans man with short, curly hair, wearing a dark green button-up shirt and gray pants. Lexi sits on the right. She is a Black trans woman with slightly longer than shoulder length curly hair. She is wearing a black tank top that reads "respect Black trans women, protect Black trans women, love Black trans women, and thank Black trans women."] Transcript: Lexi: We have a lot of conversations where we are saying, like, "I can't wait to grow old with you." Like...when I met Zad, he didn't have this many gray hairs... Zad: (chuckles) Lexi: But now, like, I'm looking at him and I was like, "Oh my gosh, you look like a father." (laughs) And soon, like, you're gonna be, like, very salt and pepper. I can't wait to grow old with you, like- Zad: (chuckles) I'm excited for it. I'm like, "Bring it on." I don't even hide my white hairs anymore. I'm like, "Let's just rock with it." Lexi: It hits very differently as not just, like, to take it to, like, the reality of, like, trans people, but I'm turning thirty-five next year...and the, like, life expectancy for Black trans women is...thirty-five. And I- I- I'd never before, like, having the safety of our relationship and having the safety of the communities that we've built our lives around, thought about myself living to be forty...forty-five...fifty...and so yeah, I think about it every day. I look at him when I wake up, and I see, like, a new gray hair, and I'm like, "Oh my god. We're growing old. That's so exciting. Zad: Yeah, it is.

Back from Cuba and here are some of my humble reflections. So much more to come—including interviews with members of @redafrocubanatrans , as soon as I have time to edit them. Every time I have the privilege (and means) to come to Cuba, I leave transformed, with a renewed clarity. There’s so much to do in our local communities, but we can’t lose sight of the importance of international solidarity with our trans siblings across the African diaspora. The realities they live—ones that many of us can’t even fathom—are a direct result of the political and economic violence that sustains a system of racial capitalism that enriches lives here within the imperial core, from oligarchs to segments of the working class alike. The invisibilizing and displacement of this violence are necessary to keep the system propped up. Only by keeping it out of the public eye can billionaires amass wealth with endless avarice and maintain their control. International dialogue and transnational solidarity are key to unmasking (and hopefully undoing) that system. Our destinies are tied, and none of us are free until all of us are. Free Cuba. Free Congo. Free Haiti. Free Palestine. Go donate to @redafrocubanatrans if you’ve got it like that 💛

Recap from this month! Thanks to community support and organizing, we were able to get many supplies & donations to the island 🎉 Including medication, gender affirming care, hygiene products, direct funds, power banks, and so much more. This is what it looks like to build for and with each other 🇨🇺🏳️‍⚧️ And! We don’t stop here. Help us sustain + expand this work, please donate to support upcoming delegations, needs, goals, and continued resourcing. Boost/share/or host a fundraiser! Why? Because Cuba is in crisis, and it’s not by accident. It’s the result of the escalating US pressure and decades of economic warfare and sanctioned state violence. As always, the most vulnerable are hit first and the hardest: Black queer & trans communities. We refuse to look away. We refuse to leave our siblings in the dark. ⚠️ Do not write “Cuba” or “🇨🇺“ in any of the payment notes or descriptions. please use an emoji instead Note: slide four should read 400,000 CUP not 19,000!

**PLEASE SHARE** Cuba is in crisis, and it’s not by accident. It’s the result of the escalating US pressure and decades of economic warfare. As always, the most vulnerable are hit first and the hardest: Black queer & trans communities. We refuse to look away. We refuse to leave our siblings in the dark. Mutual aid is already moving: convoy, community networks, care on the ground. Help us make sure that our siblings don’t get left behind. ⚠️ Do not write “Cuba” or “🇨🇺” in any of the payment notes, please use an emoji instead!

"I’ve been completely changed by the love that we've built together." 🥹 Follow for 3 new videos every week 🎬 For a deeper dive, watch Lexi & Zad's FULL INTERVIEW on YouTube! [Visual description: A couple sits on a vintage couch with floral wallpaper. Zad sits on the left. He is a Black trans man with short, curly hair, wearing a dark green button-up shirt and gray pants. Lexi sits on the right. She is a Black trans woman with slightly longer than shoulder length curly hair. She is wearing a black tank top that reads "Respect Black trans women, protect Black trans women, love Black trans women, thank Black trans women."] Transcript: Zad: I know there’s a lot of transfemmes that don’t know that they’re deserving of love in ways that are not extractive. I know there’s a lot of trans boys that feel like they have to perform a certain way, or a certain layer of masculinity, to be able to be in relationship. I say: try not to perform and see how it goes. I lowered my guards with Lexi. It really felt like I was discovering different parts of myself as I was…getting to know you. And, yeah. So, that’s how I felt about falling in love with you. Lexi: I was just like, “Oh. I’m, like, head over heels.” It just felt really special, but I’ve been completely changed by the love that Zad has showed me and the love that we’ve built together. We’ve been conditioned to experience transness or, like, queerness as this thing that we have to sort of, like, subdue in order to receive the love that we deserve. No, like…show up with all of it, and the people who are- who are there for you are gonna be the ones who stick with you, and those are the relationships that are going to really matter. ...............
