Visibility matters. But support has to go deeper than a post.
For Trans Day of Visibility, we wanted to share a few ways cis people can move beyond symbolic support and into something more lived, relational, and real.
That means:
• starting with respect
• interrupting bias
• helping create safer spaces
• being willing to learn
• and showing up in community in ways that actually matter
We’re also hosting a Trans 101 Workshop with @lex.ryan and @cityofsantamonica next week for anyone who wants a place to listen, learn, ask questions, and grow in community.

This past month and a half has been a vortex of joy and grief and growth. There’s so much to say that one post just can’t cover it and I feel like I need to write a book about it. For a few years I’ve felt so bad about myself. I stopped being able to see my own magic. I started measuring myself with colonial, capitalistic, patriarchal, and ableist frameworks. I felt like a failure for giving up on the career I’ve spent the last 16 years building. I held compassion for everyone but myself. I saw every life as sacred but my own. On a daily basis I wished to disappear. But I never stopped working on my own healing. Continued in comments…

Monday morning appreciation for this handsome babe that I get to call my honey, my partner, my teammate, my home. This past month has been filled with grief, tenderness, and fear. I have been photographing events for fifteen years. I am grateful for the many-years-long relationships I have with my clients. I love that they return to me to capture the special moments in their personal lives as well as career milestones. 🫶
In the last few years my photo journey has taken a turn into large-scale events and conferences that I am LOVING! This year I shot the Out Women in Business conference (for the 2nd time), the Hollywood Climate Summit (plus their other events for over three years), and the ROMBA 2024 conference! I love the fast pace of a conference, the energy of hundreds or thousands of people buzzing, and the swiftness with which relationships are formed. I also love going into my editing cave after and making the photos ✨sparkle✨
