This is a wonderful post for me to write, as it is a chance for me to share some amazing facts about the outdoor Microsculpture exhibition that has been touring Mexico for the last 3 years. Displaying specimens from the collections of the Oxford University Museum of Natural History, the show has visited 10 cities across 6 states and has received over 3.4 million visitors.
One more time… that is 3,400,000 visitors!!!
With a strong emphasis on education, the show has been a hub for children and educators to learn more about the tiny creatures we share the planet with. Hopefully, their experience at the Microsculpture exhibitions will encourage an appreciation of insects that they will carry with them for life.
It is a truly incredible achievement and one that was only made possible by the hard work of the Fundación Coppel and the American Museum of Natural History. Thank you for all your efforts, I am truly grateful.
Have a nice day… LB

The thing I love about macro photography is that it makes me look at the world in a different way. Subjects that can easily be missed become obvious and interesting, and once you get them under a microscope a whole new world appears. I’m very grateful for it indeed.
Have you ever walked past an Oak tree and noticed lots of tiny brown dots on the leaves? From a distance this looks like some kind of disease, but on closer inspection they may be these beautiful little things… Silk-button spangle galls!
These tiny 2mm buttons on the underside of Oak leaves provide a food and shelter for the larvae of the Silk Button Gall Wasp, housing the next generation of the wasp that develops over winter.
Swipe across for details crops. Hope you like the picture… Have a nice day. LB

Known for their distinct portrait design based on a sculpture by Arnold Machin, the Machin stamps were the definitive stamps throughout most of Elizabeth II’s reign, with the last issue on April 4, 2022, shortly before her death. While the design itself is simple, these stamps were issued in over 130 colours since their inception in 1967.
Limited edition prints available from the studio shop, link in bio.
