Made a trip down to Lockhart, Texas to spend a few days with the Black’s family as we wrapped up production on a documentary that’s been several years in the making.
This film tells the story of their legacy, their family, and the original @blacksbbq restaurant that has become such an important part of Texas barbecue history.
Grateful for the time, stories, and hospitality they shared with us.

Unboxing and assembling the @proaimglobal Quad 4 Pro Doorway Dolly with @regan_strand at @boldstudio_space
First impressions...the dolly is versatile, simple to use, and very maneuverable with the four wheel steering. The seat with the thicc cushion is pretty comfortable too. Thanks Proaim for sending me this to use and review 🙌🏻
We needed to see through the eyes of two people interacting with each other across a small table for an ad, so we had the two talents sitting at offset tables looking into teleprompters with video feed from the opposite camera. The talents were able to look into the lens at each other and react naturally.
The talent on one side also needed to fly in and out of frame. We built a shittyrig dolly and two of us spent the day on the floor pushing people back and forth 😂

I've got my solo corporate job kit so streamlined I can load and unload in about five minutes, and comfortably camp in my car on long drives and rural jobs.
The Husky tool bag holds 2 to 3 cameras with lenses, v-mounts, hardware, VND's, accessories...basically everything that the cameras need.
Milwaukee crates hold three lights (500w/300w/100w) with cords and stingers, grip heads, cardellinis and super clamps, magic arms, boom mounts, gaff tape, misc grip, diffusion, and slate. The crate lid doubles as a seat.
Audio kit either fits in a small camera cube if I'm going light, or a larger bag if I'm going more complete with timecode boxes and stuff.
The Crescent Tools Siterunner utility cart is one of my favorite purchases this last year. It takes like 10 seconds to pull out of the car and unfold, and holds all the gear for a typical corporate shoot. I hang 6-10 Matthews light stands and two boom poles from the cart, plus sticks, a 7ft umbrella, and my backpack. The Tobiq duffle/backpack has been my favorite travel bag so far and holds enough stuff to get me through a good part of a week.
The two 500wh FXLion bricks fit perfectly in the small Husky tool bag and charge my phones, laptop, iPad, and Steamdeck for several days.
Of course, I always have my trusty RoboCup 🦾
In typical fashion, my homie @taurenwells did something BIG! He dropped his first book “JOY BOMB” last year and my team had the privilege to shoot a wild promo for it, featuring @bonus.michaelofficial . “Joy Bomb” is an explosive read that’s more than just encouragement, it’s key to finding lasting, divine happiness through the lens of the Beatitudes.
Just for fun, I repurposed the footage to create a short film 🎬 (director’s cut if you will) called DETONATE. The last slide has a preview but you can watch the full video at the link in bio!
