Salt Lake City’s traditions of choral excellence go back to the earliest pioneer days in Utah. Many local choirs are catalysts for community building and one certainly can include the
@gslbeerchoir in that mix.
Established in December, 2023, the local beer choir became the 44th such organization to be established in the U.S., which now has 50 beer choirs around the country.
Convening this month at the Post District location of
@levelcrossingbrewing , many singers came warmed up for a robust fest of songs of different styles, including a damned good spontaneous performance of the brindisi, Libiamo ne’ lieti calici, from Verdi’s La Traviata. In fact, there were a good number of
@utahopera chorus members who had the night off during the opera’s current production run at the Capitol Theatre.
Put the beer choir into your rotation, if possible. Next up will be their Pride edition on June 8
@rohabrewing , featuring songs from their ‘hymnal’ as well as songs by queer composers and singer/songwriters. Special guest song-leaders
@mitchthetenor and
@sethkershisnik will be joined by
@contasia_vonclappe and
@thegoodladydy from the
@matronsofmayhem .
