Playwright:
Andrea Peterson is a writer driven by unassailable curiosity and a refusal to conform to narrative convention. She views life as a winding labyrinth rather than a straight line, approaching her work with a fearless “why not?” that shapes stories designed to challenge, provoke, and resonate long after the final page.
She earned her undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University, double majoring in Literature and Sociology with a concentration in Criminology, before completing a master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism at Boston University. This academic foundation sharpened her ability to blend character, culture, and structure, informing a writing style that is both observant and emotionally grounded. Her early work in journalism gave her an “all-access” lens into diverse communities, deepening her commitment to authentic, human-centered storytelling.
As a screenwriter and filmmaker, Andrea has received awards for her work in web series and music videos and was a finalist in the Sundance Screenwriters Lab, recognizing her talent for crafting layered, meaningful narratives. She is drawn to the architectural side of writing—building story blueprints, shaping rhythm, and engineering scenes with precision and intention. Her love of live theater led her back to playwriting, where her work embraces the immediacy and vulnerability of the stage.
At the core of Andrea’s writing is a belief that the most powerful stories resist tidy conclusions. Rather than offering easy answers, she creates endings that invite discomfort, reflection, and dialogue, trusting the audience to meet the work in the space between certainty and possibility.
“Sometimes we go to theatre to escape and unwind. Sometimes we go to theatre to think.”

For abeing a writer, I am at a loss for words on how to describe what I am feeling for watching my first stage play come to life at @pygmalionproductions ! What started as a silly little comedy titled “The Day My Vagina Met Richard Gere” has blossomed into a timely important story titled “(plan c).” I am so grateful for Fran Pruyn taking the chance on my words and then for seeing her mold such a wonderful cast! For those who haven’t seen it, if you’re in SLC, go! It runs until May 16th, and if you’re not, don’t worry we will bring it to New York!!
Join us today at 2 pm for a matinee of (plan C) and then stay afterward for a special talkback with playwright Andrea Danee Peterson, director Fran Pruyn, and our stellar cast. Andrea will share the inspiration behind the play and the real stories that shaped it. It’s an opportunity to go deeper into the themes of the work and be part of a thought-provoking dialogue.
The show features Liz Whittaker, Nicole Finney, Bobby Cavalier, and Paul Naylor.
Happy Opening to the cast and crew of (plan c) @pygmalionproductions to be performed at he ROSE Wagner tonight at 730p. Break all the legs!
